Closer home, the incident is of Borivali area in Mumbai where a complaint has been filed against Radhe Maa, a self-proclaimed Godwoman who is said to be the source to have instigated dowry harassment. A Mumbai resident Niki Gupta has pressed charges against Radhe Maa. Niki Gupta is harassed by her in-laws who are followers of Radhe Maa and have also gifted the Godwoman two floors in their five storey building. An FIR has been filed by Gupta's lawyer, Falguni Brahmbhatt, under section 498A for dowry harassment and section 420 for cheating. Brahmbhatt says that the so-called Godwoman holds salacious satsangs.
"She wears designer clothes, expensive flashy jewelry, make up and carries a trishul with her. Her duplex house is fancier than a seven star hotel and she owns more than ten luxury cars. She has never spoken a word in public but has a massive following with hoardings all over Mumbai. One of her bhakts in London gifted her a bungalow in Leicester. People have been saying all sorts of things so I went there to see for myself. She invites people late in the night, holds sleazy satsangs where she gets drunk and dances to Bollywood songs, she even allows her followers, men to kiss her, hug her carry her in their arms. All this vulgarity and obscenity in the name of religion in unacceptable," said Brahmbhatt.
Radhe Maa, born as Sukhvinder Kaur, married a sweet shop owner at the age of 17 but soon she left her husband and moved to Mumbai. At the age of 23 she gained an appellation of Radhe Maa and now, calls herself as a 'devi avatar.' She distributes langar and carries a trishul.
After the case came to limelight, a series of tweets have been doing the rounds of social but this is what caught our attention.
