1. The whole world celebrated World Environment Day on 5 June 2015 - a day designated by the UN to raise awareness about environmental issues. United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) celebrates the World Environment Day every year on 5 June. The theme of World Environment Day 2015 is 'Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care.' Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a Kadam tree at 7RCR on the occasion of World Environment Day to create awareness for environment. 

पूरे विश्व ने 5 जून 2015 को विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस- पर्यावरण के मुद्दों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा नामित एक दिवस, मनाया। संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यावरण कार्यक्रम (यूएनईपी) प्रत्येक वर्ष 5 जून को विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस मनाता है। विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस 2015 का विषय 'सात अरब सपने। एक ग्रह। देखभाल के साथ उपभोग' है। प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस के अवसर पर पर्यावरण के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए अपने सरकारी निवास 7, रेसकोर्स रोड में कदम्ब का एक पौधा रोपा।

2. Ending an 11-year wait, Sundaram Ravi became the first Indian after S. Venkataraghavan to be inducted in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Elite Panel of Umpires following an annual review and selection process. New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney and Ravi were promoted from the International Panel of Umpires to the Elite Panel, replacing Kiwi veteran Billy Bowden and the retiring Steve Davis. The Elite Panel of Umpires for 2015-2016 will be: Aleem Dar, Kumar Dharmasena, Marais Erasmus, Chris Gaffaney, Ian Gould, Richard Illingworth, Richard Kettleborough, Nigel Llong, Sundaram Ravi, Paul Reiffel, Rod Tucker and Bruce Oxenford. 

वार्षिक समीक्षा और चयन प्रक्रिया के बाद सुंदरम रवि को अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषद (आईसीसी) के अंपायरों के एलीट पैनल में शामिल कर लिया गया जिससे भारत का इस पैनल में अपना अंपायर देखने का 11 साल का इंतजार खत्म हो गया। एस. वेंकटराघवन के बाद एलीट पैनल में जगह बनाने वाले रवि पहले भारतीय अंपायर हैं। न्यूजीलैंड के क्रिस गफाने और रवि को अंपायरों के अंतरराष्ट्रीय पैनल से एलीट पैनल में पदोन्नत किया गया। ये दोनों न्यूजीलैंड के अनुभवी बिली बोडेन और संन्यास ले रहे स्टीव डेविस की जगह लेंगे। वर्ष 2015-16 के लिए एलीट पैनल में अलीम दार, कुमार धर्मसेना, मराइस इरासमस, क्रिस गफाने, इयान गाउल्ड, रिचर्ड इलिंगवर्थ, रिचर्ड केटलब्रो, नाइजेल लांग, सुंदरम रवि, पाल रिफेल, रोड टकर और बू्रस ओक्सनफोर्ड को जगह दी गई है।

3. The Delhi Metro received its first train which is capable of running without a driver. Manufactured at Changwan in South Korea, the new-age train that arrived at the Mukundpur depot in New Delhi will eventually run unattended, guided by Delhi Metro's operations control centres. The train arrived by sea at the Mundhra port in Gujarat and was brought to Delhi by road. These trains will run on the upcoming Majlish Park-Shiv Vihar (Line 7 - 58.596km) and Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden (Line 8 - 38.235km) corridors of Phase 3. Both these corridors are expected to be operational by the end of 2016.

दिल्ली मेट्रो को पहली चालक रहित रेलगाड़ी मिली। इस रेलगाड़ी का निर्माण दक्षिण कोरिया के चांगवान में हुआ है। यह रेलगाड़ी यहां के मुकुंदपुर डिपो पहुंची है और दिल्ली मेट्रो के संचालन नियंत्रण केंद्र से इस रेलगाड़ी का बिना किसी परिचालक के परिचालन होगा। दक्षिण कोरिया से यह रेलगाड़ी समुद्र मार्ग से गुजरात के मुंधरा बंदरगाह पहुंची थी, जहां से इसे सड़क मार्ग से दिल्ली लाया गया। यह रेलगाड़ी तीसरे चरण के मजलिश पार्क से शिव विहार (58.59 किलोमीटर लंबी लाइन-7) और जनकपुरी पश्चिम से बोटेनिकल गार्डन (38.25 किलोमीटर लंबी लाइन-8) मार्ग पर दौड़ेगी। दोनों ही मार्गो का परिचालन 2016 के अंत तक शुरू होने की संभावना है। 

4. Multi-lateral lender World Bank approved $250 million loan for Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project for reconstruction of flood-affected public infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir. World Bank said that it will also strengthen the capacity of state government to respond and better manage natural disasters in future. The project is funded by credit from World Bank's concessionary --International Development Association (IDA). The loan has a maturity of 25 years, including a 5 year grace period. A continuous spell of rains in September 2014 had caused Jhelum, Chenab and Tawi rivers, their tributaries and many other streams to flow above the danger mark which had severely affected livelihoods in the state.

जम्मू-कश्मीर में पिछले साल बाढ़ से हुई तबाही के बाद बुनियादी ढांचे के पुनर्निर्माण के लिए बहुपक्षीय ऋणदाता विश्व बैंक ने झेलम और तवी बाढ़ रिकवरी प्रोजेक्ट के लिए 250 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर ऋण को मंजूरी दे दी। विश्व बैंक ने कहा कि वह भविष्य में प्राकृतिक आपदा से निपटने और बेहतर प्रबंधन की क्षमता बढ़ाने में राज्य सरकार की मदद करेगा। इस प्रोजेक्ट के लिए विश्व बैंक के कंसेशनरी-इंटरनेशनल डेवलपमेंट एसोसिएशन (आईडीए) के तहत फंड उपलब्ध कराया गया है। यह ऋण 25 साल के लिए होगा। इसमें 5 साल की रियायती अवधि शामिल है। सितंबर 2014 में लगातार बारिश से जम्मू-कश्मीर में झेलम, चिनाब, तवी और उनकी सहायक नदियों में भयंकर बाढ़ आ गई थी। इससे राज्य के सार्वजनिक बुनियादी ढांचे को काफी नुकसान हुआ था। 

5. AB de Villiers won five of the nine major awards at a Cricket South Africa (CSA) annual function. South Africa World Cup skipper was voted ‘South African Cricketer of the Year’ for the second successive season. His other awards included ODI Cricketer of the Year, Cricketers' Cricketer of the Year and Supporters' Cricketer of the Year. There was also an award, the 'So Good' award, for scoring the fastest ODI international century, against the West Indies in December 2014.

एबी डिविलियर्स ने क्रिकेट दक्षिण अफ्रीका के सालाना पुरस्कार में ‘वर्ष के सर्वश्रेष्ठ दक्षिण अफ्रीकी क्रिकेटर’समेत पांच पुरस्कार जीते। वह लगातार दूसरे साल वर्ष के सर्वश्रेष्ठ क्रिकेटर बने हैं। उन्होंने कुल नौ में से पांच पुरस्कार अपने नाम किये। उन्हें वर्ष का सर्वश्रेष्ठ वनडे बल्लेबाज, क्रिकेटरों की नजर में वर्ष का सर्वश्रेष्ठ क्रिकेटर, दक्षिण अफ्रीकी प्रशंसकों की नजर में वर्ष का सर्वश्रेष्ठ क्रिकेटर और वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ दिसंबर 2014 में सबसे तेज वनडे शतक लगाने के लिये ‘सो गुड’ पुरस्कार भी दिया गया। 

6. India has jumped six places to the 141st position in the latest rankings released by world football's governing body FIFA. Indian team was previously on the 147th spot. India is at the 22nd position among the Asian countries. Iran (41) is the top-ranked Asian team in the list, followed by Japan (52) and South Korea (58). World Champions Germany continued to head the rankings. Belgium jumped to second place, a place above World Cup runners-up Argentina. It is Belgium's highest position since the launch of the world rankings.

भारत को फुटबॉल विश्व रैंकिंग में छह स्थान का फायदा हुआ है। फीफा द्वारा सूची में भारतीय टीम 141वें स्थान पर पहुंच गई है। इससे पहले भारतीय टीम 147वें क्रम पर थी। एशियाई देशों में भारत का स्थान 22वां है। ईरान (41) शीर्ष वरीय एशियाई टीम है, जबकि जापान (52) और साउथ कोरिया (58) दूसरे और तीसरे क्रम पर हैं। विश्व रैंकिंग में चैम्पियन जर्मनी पहले स्थान पर कायम है, जबकि बेल्जियम दूसरे क्रम पर पहुंच गया है। वर्ल्ड कप उपविजेता अर्जेंटीना को तीसरे स्थान पर खिसकना पड़ा है। वर्ल्ड रैंकिंग की शुरुआत के बाद से बेल्जियम पहली बार इस मुकाम पर पहुंचा है।

7. The Loan and Project Agreements for World Bank (IBRD) assistance of US$ 400 million for Tamil Nadu Sustainable Urban Development Project were signed between the Government of India/Government of Tamil Nadu and World Bank. The objective of the project is to improve urban services in participating Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in a financially sustainable manner and to pilot improved urban management practices in selected cities. The total project size is US$ 600 million, out of which World Bank support is US$ 400 million.

तमिलनाडु सतत शहरी विकास परियोजना के लिए भारत सरकार/तमिलनाडु सरकार ने 400 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर की विश्‍व बैंक (आईबीआरडी) सहायता हेतु उसके साथ ऋण एवं परियोजना समझौते पर हस्‍ताक्षर किए। परियोजना का लक्ष्‍य स्थानीय शहरी निकायों (यूएलबी) को वित्‍तीय समर्थन देना है ताकि नागरिक सेवाओं में सुधार हो सके। इसके अलावा चुने हुए शहरों में शहरी प्रबंधन में सुधार करना भी समझौते के दायरे में है। पूरी परियोजना का आकार 600 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर है, जिसमें से 400 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर विश्‍व बैंक प्रदान करेगा। 

8. Noted footballer and Arjuna awardee C. Prasad passed away in Delhi following an ailment. Prasad had received the Arjuna award in 1971. He was 70 years old.

प्रसिद्ध फुटबॉलर और अर्जुन पुरस्कार विजेता सी. प्रसाद का दिल्ली में बीमारी के बाद निधन हो गया। उन्हें 1971 में अर्जुन पुरस्कार मिला था। वह 70 वर्ष के थे। 

9. Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN) has appointed Ratna Vishwanathan as its Chief Executive Officer. She will replace Alok Prasad, who will complete his second term on June 30. Vishwanathan, who is currently deputy CEO, will take charge from July 1.

माइक्रोफाईनैंस इंस्टीट्यूशंस नेटवर्क (एमएफआईएन) ने अपने मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी के रूप में रत्ना विश्वनाथन को नियुक्त किया है। वह 30 जून को अपना दूसरा कार्यकाल पूरा करने वाले आलोक प्रसाद का स्थान लेंगी। विश्वनाथन जो वर्तमान में डिप्टी सीईओ हैं, 1 जुलाई से अपना पद ग्रहण करेंगी।

10. Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa announced a financial aid of Rs. 41 crore for farmers in the Cauvery delta region to improve the kuruvai cultivation (short-term cultivation). The 'kuruvai package' announced by the government includes financial assistance to farmers and free supply of micro nutrients. Farm machines will be leased out to farmers free of cost. Besides, three phase power would be provided for 12 hours per day for irrigation.

तमिलनाडु मुख्यमंत्री जे. जयललिता ने कुरूवई खेती (अल्पकालिक खेती) में सुधार लाने के लिए कावेरी डेल्टा क्षेत्र के किसानों के लिए 41 करोड़ रुपए की वित्तीय सहायता की घोषणा की। सरकार द्वारा घोषित 'कुरूवई पैकेज' में किसानों को वित्तीय सहायता और सूक्ष्म पोषक तत्वों की मुफ्त आपूर्ति भी शामिल है। किसानों को कृषि मशीनों को मुक्त में पट्टे पर दिया जाएगा। इसके अलावा, सिंचाई के लिए प्रति दिन 12 घंटों के लिए तीन चरण बिजली प्रदान की जाएगी।

11. The government has appointed the former Intelligence Bureau Chief Asif Ibrahim to a key post in the Prime Minister’s office. Ibrahim, who retired in December 2014, will be the PM’s Special Envoy on Countering Terrorism and Extremism with a charter to liaise with governments in West Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and South East Asia and will cooperate in the exchange of other informations.

सरकार ने पूर्व खुफिया ब्यूरो प्रमुख आसिफ इब्राहिम को प्रधानमंत्री के कार्यालय में एक महत्वपूर्ण पद के लिए नियुक्त किया है। दिसंबर 2014 में सेवानितृत्ति लेने वाले इब्राहिम आतंकवाद और उग्रवाद का सामना करने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री के विशेष दूत होंगे। इस नए कार्यभार के तहत वे पश्चिम एशिया, अफगानिस्तान, पाकिस्तान और दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया की सरकारों के साथ संबंध स्थापित करके आतंकी गतिविधियों तथा अन्य खुफिया जानकारियों का आदान-प्रदान करने में सहयोग देंगे।
