1. Former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas has been appointed President of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for one year term at the annual conference of the sport's world governing body in Barbados. Zaheer, 67, filled the vacancy for the post left by Mustafa Kamal, who resigned in April. Abbas played 78 tests and 62 one day internationals from 1969 to 1985 in which he has made 5,062 and 2,572 runs, respectively.

पाकिस्तान के पूर्व क्रिकेटर जहीर अब्बास को अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषद (आईसीसी) का नया अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है। उनकी नियुक्ति की पुष्टि खेल की विश्व शासी निकाय की बाराबडोस में हुई वार्षिक बैठक में की गई। जहीर अब्बास का कार्यकाल एक वर्ष का है। 67 वर्षीय जहीर अब्बास मुस्तफा कमाल के पद पर आए हैं जिंहोंने अप्रैल में इस्तीफा दिया था। अब्बास ने पाकिस्तान की और से 1969 से 1985 के बीच 78 टेस्ट और 62 वनडे मैच खेले है, जिनमे उन्होंने क्रमशः 5,062 ओर 2,572 रन बनाए। 

2. According to the UNCTAD's World Investment Report 2015, after 2008, for the first time, India again broke in to the top 10 recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) during 2014. India jumped to the ninth rank in 2014 with a 22 percent rise in FDI inflows to $34 billion. China became the largest recipient of FDI in 2014 with $129 billion inflows, followed by Hong Kong (China) that received $103 billion and the U.S. with $92 billion.

अंकटाड की विश्व निवेश रिपोर्ट 2015 के अनुसार 2008 के बाद पहली बार भारत 2014 के दौरान प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश (एफडीआई) के शीर्ष 10 प्राप्तकर्ताओं में फिर से शामिल हो गया है। भारत, 34 बिलियन डॉलर के एफडीआई अन्तर्वाह में 22 फीसदी वृद्धि के साथ 2014 में नौवें स्थान पर आ गया है। चीन 129 बिलियन डॉलर के एफडीआई अन्तर्वाह के साथ प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश का सबसे बड़ा प्राप्तकर्ता बन गया है। उसके बाद हांगकांग (चीन) 103 बिलियन डॉलर और अमेरिका 92 बिलियन डॉलर के एफडीआई अन्तर्वाह के साथ क्रमशः दूसरे और तीसरे स्थान पर हैं।

3. India has emerged as the third largest source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for United Kingdom (UK) after United States and France in terms of number of projects. According to a recent report released by UK Trade and Industry (UKTI), the U.S. remained the largest source of inward investment, with a total of 564 projects in 2014-15, followed by France (124 projects) and India (122 projects). The key sectors where Indian companies invested include healthcare, agri-tech, food and drink. 

भारत परियोजनाओं की संख्या के मामले में संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और फ्रांस के बाद यूनाइटेड किंगडम के लिए प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश (एफडीआई) के तीसरे सबसे बड़ा स्रोत के रूप में उभरा है। यूके ट्रेड एंड इंडस्ट्री (यूकेटीआई) द्वारा जारी एक नवीनतम रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, अमेरिका 2014-15 में कुल 564 परियोजनाओं के साथ आवक निवेश का सबसे बड़ा स्रोत बना रहा, उसके बाद फ्रांस (124 परियोजनाऐं) और भारत (122 परियोजनाऐं) रहे। भारतीय कंपनियों द्वारा जिन प्रमुख क्षेत्रों में निवेश किया गया है, में स्वास्थ्य सेवा, कृषि तकनीक, खाद्य और पेय शामिल हैं।

4. External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj during her two-day official visit to Nepal, announced that India would provide an assistance of $1 billion for quake-hit Nepal's reconstruction. India's total assistance to Nepal over the next five years now stands at $2 billion.

विदेश मामलों की मंत्री सुषमा स्वराज ने नेपाल की उनकी दो दिवसीय सरकारी यात्रा के दौरान घोषणा की है कि भारत भूकंप प्रभावित नेपाल के पुनर्निर्माण के लिए 1 अरब डॉलर की सहायता प्रदान करेगा। अगले पांच वर्षों में नेपाल के लिए भारत की कुल सहायता अब 2 अरब डॉलर हो गई है। 

5. Australia announced that it would join the new China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as a founding member, contributing about $930 million to the financial institution. Australia will contribute around A$930 million as paid-in capital to the AIIB over five years and will be the sixth largest shareholder.

ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने एक संस्थापक सदस्य के रूप में चीन के नेतृत्व वाले नए एशियाई बुनियादी ढांचा निवेश बैंक (एआईआईबी) में शामिल होने की घोषणा की है जिसमे वह इस वित्तीय संस्था में लगभग 930 मिलियन डॉलर का योगदान देगा। ऑस्ट्रेलिया पांच वर्षों तक एआईआईबी को पेड-इन कैपिटल के रूप में लगभग 930 मिलियन ऑस्ट्रेलियाई डॉलरों का योगदान देगा और छठा सबसे बड़ा शेयरधारक बन जाएगा। 

6. Prominent journalist, writer and anti-nuclear activist Praful Bidwai passed away in Netherlands. He was 65 years old. Bidwai was a fellow at Transnational Institute at Amsterdam, an organisation of international scholar-activists. He also wrote a number of books, including the famous book ‘1999 New Nukes: India, Pakistan and Global Nuclear Disarmament'.

प्रख्यात पत्रकार, लेखक और परमाणु विरोधी कार्यकर्ता प्रफुल्ल बिदवई का नीदरलैंड में निधन हो गया। वे 65 वर्ष के थे। बिदवई एमस्टर्डम के ट्रांसनेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट में फेलो थे जो अंतरराष्ट्रीय विद्वान- कार्यकर्ताओं का एक संगठन है। उन्होंने प्रसिद्ध पुस्तक ‘1999 न्यू न्यूक्स: इंडिया, पाकिस्तान एंड ग्लोबल न्यूक्लियर डिसआर्ममेंट’ सहित कई पुस्तकें भी लिखी हैं।

7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched three mega flagship schemes aimed at developing cities and towns. The three projects -- 100 smart cities, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Housing for All-2022 - will ring in a new urban era, which will entail an investment of over Rs. 3 lakh crore in the next five years. 500 cities having 1 lakh and more population will be chosen for AMRUT project.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने तीन महत्‍वपूर्ण योजनाओं जिनका उद्देश्य शहरों और कस्बों का विकास है, का शुभारंभ किया। ये तीन परियोजनाएं-- 100 स्‍मार्ट सिटी, अटल शहरी पुनर्जीवन एवं शहरी परिवर्तन मिशन (अमरूत) और हाउसिंग फार ऑल-2022-- एक नया शहरी युग लाएंगी, जिसमे अगले पांच सालों में 3 लाख करोड़ रुपए से अधिक का निवेश होगा। 1 लाख और उससे अधिक जनसंख्या वाले 500 शहर अमरूत परियोजना के लिए चुने जाएंगे।

8. Russia and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. For the first time in the history of Russian-Saudi relations the document creates a legal basis for cooperation between two countries in the field of nuclear energy on a wide range of areas, including construction of nuclear power reactors, provision of cycle of nuclear fuel, including for nuclear power plants and research reactors.

रूस और सऊदी अरब ने शांतिपूर्ण उद्देश्यों के लिए परमाणु ऊर्जा के क्षेत्र में सहयोग को लेकर पहली बार एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए। रूस और सऊदी अरब के संबंधों के इतिहास में पहली बार यह दस्तावेज दोनों देशों के बीच परमाणु ऊर्जा रियेक्टरों के निर्माण, परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्रों एवं अनुसंधान रियेक्टरों समेत अन्य के लिए परमाणु इंधन के आवर्तन के प्रावधान जैसे कई क्षेत्रों से जुड़े परमाणु ऊर्जा सहयोग के लिए किसी कानूनी आधार का निर्माण करता है।

9. The board of directors of HDFC Bank, second largest private lender, has extended managing director Aditya Puri's tenure for another five years, with effect from November 1. Last September, the Reserve Bank of India raised the age limit of private bank chiefs to 70. Puri, 64, has headed the bank since its inception in 1994, the longest serving chief executive of an Indian bank.

देश के दूसरे सबसे बड़े निजी ऋणदाता एचडीएफसी बैंक के बोर्ड ऑफ डायरेक्‍टर्स ने अपने प्रबंध निदेशक आदित्‍य पुरी के कार्यकाल को अगले पांच वर्षों के लिए बढ़ा दिया है। उनका नया कार्यकाल 1 नवंबर से प्रभावी होगा। पिछले साल सितंबर में आरबीआई ने निजी बैंकों के प्रमुख की सेवानिवृत्‍त आयु बढ़ाकर 70 वर्ष कर दी थी। 64 वर्षीय आदित्‍य पुरी 1994 से, जब बैंक की स्‍थापना हुई थी, प्रमुख का पद संभाल रहे हैं। पुरी एक भारतीय बैंक में सबसे लंबे समय के लिए सेवारत मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी हैं। 

10. Famous writer of Sanskrit and Telugu literature and Padma Sree awardee Professor Pullela Srirama Chandraudu passed away. He did verbatim translation of Valmiki Ramayana in Telugu language. He was 87. Professor Ram was awarded the Padma Shri in 2011. 

वाल्मीकि रामायण का तेलुगु भाषा में शब्दश: अनुवाद करने वाले संस्कृत एवं तेलुगु के प्रसिद्ध लेखक एवं पद्मश्री से सम्मानित प्रोफेसर पुलेला श्रीराम चंद्रुदु का निधन हो गया। वह 87 वर्ष के थे। प्रोफेसर श्रीराम को 2011 में पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया गया था।
