1. In the Union Budget, 2015, an increase in the rate of Service Tax from 12% to 14% had been proposed from a date to be notified. The Finance Bill, 2015 has since been enacted and the Central Government has notified 1st June, 2015 as the date from which the rate of 14% would become applicable. The provisions levying Education Cess and Secondary and Higher Education Cess would also cease to have effect from same date i.e. 1st June, 2015, as the same would be subsumed in the service tax rate of 14%.

केंद्रीय बजट, 2015 में सेवा कर की दर को 12 फीसदी से बढ़ाकर 14 फीसदी करने का प्रस्‍ताव किया गया था। बजट में यह जिक्र भी किया गया था कि सेवा कर की दर में वृद्धि जिस तारीख से प्रभावी होगी, उसे अधिसूचित किया जाएगा। वित्‍त विधेयक, 2015 अब कानून की शक्‍ल ले चुका है और केंद्र सरकार ने 14 फीसदी सेवा कर के प्रभावी होने की तिथि के रूप में 1 जून, 2015 को अधिसूचित किया है। शिक्षा उपकर और माध्यमिक एवं उच्च शिक्षा उपकर को लागू करने वाले प्रावधान भी उसी तिथि यानी 1 जून, 2015 से समाप्‍त हो जाएंगे, क्‍योंकि ये उपकर 14 फीसदी सेवा कर में समाहित हो जाएंगे। 

2. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which runs the RuPay payment card network, has received the Reserve Bank of India's approval to tie up with the Chinese government- supported payment card network China UnionPay.

रूपे भुगतान कार्ड नेटवर्क की संचालक भारतीय राष्ट्रीय भुगतान निगम (एनपीसीआई) को चीन सरकार-समर्थित भुगतान कार्ड नेटवर्क चीन यूनियनपे के साथ गठबंधन करने के लिए भारत रिजर्व बैंक की स्वीकृति प्राप्त हो गयी है।

3. Four big banks will pay $2.5 billion in fines and plead guilty to criminally manipulating the global currency markets going back to 2007. JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Barclays and The Royal Bank of Scotland conspired with one another to fix rates on U.S. dollars and euros traded in the huge global market for currencies, according to a settlement between the banks and U.S. Justice Department. Currency traders allegedly shared customer orders through chat rooms and used that information to profit ahead of their clients.

चार बड़े बैंकों पर 2007 में वैश्विक मुद्रा बाजार में आपराधिक तरीके से गड़बड़ी करने के मामले में 2.5 अरब डॉलर का जुर्माना लगाया गया है। जिन बैंकों पर जुर्माना लगाया गया वे बैंक हैं..जेपी मॉर्गन चेज, सिटीग्रुप, बार्कले तथा द रॉयल बैंक ऑफ स्कॉटलैंड। इन बैंकों को इस मामले में दोषी करार दिया गया है। बैंकों व अमेरिका न्यायिक विभाग के बीच आज इस मामले के निपटान की घोषणा की गई। इसमें कहा गया है कि दुनिया के बड़े मुद्रा बाजार में अमेरिकी डॉलर व यूरो के दरों में गड़बड़ी करने के लिए इन बैंकों ने एक-दूसरे के साथ मिलकर साजिश की।

4. India has ranked 24th out of 70 countries in the first Environmental Democracy Index that is topped by Lithuania and evaluates nations' progress in enacting laws to promote transparency, accountability and citizen engagement in environmental decision making. Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, the US, South Africa, the UK, Hungary, Bulgaria, Panama and Colombia are the top 10 nations in the list launched by Washington-based World Resources Institute (WRI) and Access Initiative.

भारत को पहले पर्यावरणीय लोकतंत्र सूचकांक (ईडीआई) में 70 देशों में 24वां स्थान मिला है और लिथुआनिया इसमें शीर्ष स्थान पर रहा है। यह सूचकांक पर्यावरण से जुड़े निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया में पारदर्शिता, जवाबदेही और नागरिकों की भागीदारी को बढ़ावा देने के लिए नियमों को लागू करने में किसी देश की प्रगति का आकलन करता है। वाशिंगटन के वर्ल्ड रिसोर्सेज इंस्टीट्यूट (डब्ल्यूआरआई) और एक्सेस इनीशिएटिव द्वारा कल जारी शीर्ष 10 देशों की सूची में जिन देशों के नाम हैं, वे इस प्रकार हैं- लिथुआनिया, लाटविया, रूस, अमेरिका, दक्षिण अफ्रीका, ब्रिटेन, हंगरी, बुल्गारिया, पनामा और कोलंबिया।

5. World Bank will offer a credit of USD 250 million to Bihar government over the next five years as part of a programme to help improve effectiveness of elementary school. The programme, approved by the World Bank’s Board of executive Directors, will be part of the government of Bihar’s school education reform programme.

विश्व बैंक बिहार में प्राथमिक स्कूल के शिक्षकों को अधिक योग्य, जवाबदेह एवं जिम्मेदार बनाने में मदद करने के कार्यक्रम के तहत राज्य सरकार को 25 करोड़ डॉलर का ऋण देने का प्रस्ताव रखेगा। विश्व बैंक के कार्यकारी निदेशक मंडल द्वारा स्वीकृत यह कार्यक्रम मानव विकास कार्यक्रम का हिस्सा होगा। इस कार्यक्रम के तहत विशेषकर प्राथमिक स्तर के छात्रों के लिए शिक्षा की गुणवत्ता में बड़े स्तर पर सुधार किये जा रहे हैं।

6. The 2015 Man International Booker prize was awarded to the Hungarian writer Laszlo Krasznahorkai at a ceremony at the V&A in London. His novels include Satantango (1985, English translation 2012), The Melancholy of Resistance (1989, English translation 1998), and Seiobo Down Below (2008, English translation 2013). The 61-year old writer was among a shortlist of 10 writers that included India-born Amitav Ghosh. The literary prize, worth £ 60,000 is awarded to a living author of any nationality who has published fiction either in English or in English translation.

हंगरी के लेखक लैस्जलो करास्जनाहोरकाई को इस वर्ष के लिए मैन बुकर पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया है। 61 वर्षीय करास्जनाहोरकाई को उनकी प्रमुख कृति 'द मेलानचोली ऑफ रेसिस्टेंस', 'सियोबो देयर बिलो' और 'सतनतैंगो' के लिए इस पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया है। उन्हें पुरस्कार स्वरुप 90 हजार डॉलर दिए जाएंगे। उन्होंने दस प्रतिभागियों को पीछे छोड़ते यह पुरस्कार जीता है जिसमें भारत सहित लीबिया, मोजाम्बिक, गुआदली, दक्षिण अफ्रीका और कांगों के लेखक शामिल थे। 

7. In a first, a Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force on Thursday successfully landed on the Yamuna Expressway near Mathura as part of trials to use national highways for emergency landing.

आपात स्थिति में विमानों को उतारने के लिए राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों का उपयोग करने के उद्देश्य से किए गए एक परीक्षण के तहत भारतीय वायुसेना का एक मिराज 2000 लड़ाकू विमान मथुरा के समीप यमुना एक्सप्रेस-वे पर सफलतापूर्वक उतारा गया।

8. India continued to lead the global confidence index in anticipation of improvement in the economy through reforms and stimulus announced by the central government, says a report. According to global information and insights provider Nielsen, in the first quarter of 2015, India’s consumer confidence score rose to 130 followed by Indonesia (123) and Philippines (115).

उपभोक्ता विश्वास से संबंधित 60 देशों के लिए कराए गए एक सर्वेक्षण में भारत की रैंकिंग 130 अंक के साथ सबसे ऊपर रही। अमेरिकी एजेंसी नील्सन द्वारा कराए गए इस ऑनलाइन सर्वेक्षण की रिपोर्ट में भारत को 130 अंक मिले। इसके बाद इंडोनेशिया को 123, फिलीपींस को 115 और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात को 115 अंक मिले। 

9. Indians have become the second biggest job creators in London in 2015. Latest data released by London and Partners showed that Indian companies have already created 504 new jobs this year in London alone - second only to the Americans who created 1983 jobs. China which is investing heavily in UK created only 277 jobs so far this year.

इस वर्ष लंदन में सबसे ज्यादा जॉब के अवसर पैदा करने के मामले में भारतीय कंपनियां दूसरे नंबर पर रही हैं। लंदन ऐंड पार्टनर्स द्वारा हाल ही में जारी किए गए आंकड़ों के अनुसार इस वर्ष अकेले भारतीय कंपनियों ने लंदन में 504 नई जॉब्स सृजित किए हैं, जोकि अमेरिका द्वारा सृजित किए गए 1983 नौकरियों के बाद सबसे अधिक है। खास बात यह है कि ब्रिटेन में जबर्दस्त निवेश कर रहा चीन इस साल सिर्फ 277 नौकरियों के अवसर ही पैदा कर पाया।

10. Star Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal today regained the number one spot in the latest BWF world rankings. Saina, who secured the numero uno spot for the first time early last month, slipped from the coveted position subsequently. The Olympic bronze medallist, however, climbed to the number one ranking today once again ahead of the Australian Open, starting on May 26.

स्टार बैडमिंटन खिलाड़ी साइना नेहवाल ताजा बीडब्ल्यूएफ विश्व रैंकिंग में फिर नंबर वन पर काबिज हो गई है। साइना ने पिछले महीने शीर्ष रैंकिंग गंवा दी थी । वह हालांकि 26 मई से शुरू हो रहे आस्ट्रेलियाई ओपन से पहले फिर चोटी पर पहुंच गई है ।
