1. Hungarian writer Laszlo Krasznahorkai has won the Man Booker International Prize. Krasznahorkai, 61, won the prestigious 60,000 pound ($90,000) prize for works that include “The Melancholy of Resistance,” “Seiobo There Below” and “Satantango” and was chosen from among 10 contenders. "Laszlo Krasznahorkai is a visionary writer of extraordinary intensity and vocal range," writer and academic Marina Warner, who chaired the panel, said as she announced the winner at an award ceremony in London.

हंगेरी के लेखक लैस्ज़लो करास्जनाहोरकाई ने मैन बुकर अंतरराष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार जीता है। 61 वर्षीय करास्जनाहोरकाई को उनकी प्रमुख कृति 'द मेलानचोली ऑफ रेसिस्टेंस', 'सियोबो देयर बिलो' और 'सतनतैंगो' के लिए इस पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया है। उन्हें पुरस्कारस्वरूप 60,000 पौंड (90 हजार डॉलर) दिए जाएंगे। उन्होंने दस प्रतिभागियों को पीछे छोड़ते यह पुरस्कार जीता है। लंदन में पुरस्कार समारोह में विजेता की घोषणा के दौरान पैनल की अध्यक्ष मारिना वार्नर ने कहा कि लेजलो करास्जनाहोरकाई असाधारण प्रतिभा और मुखर क्षमता के एक दूरदर्शी लेखक हैं। 

2. India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (POSOCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for optimum use of weather information and forecast in the power sector. The aim of MoU is to enable power operators, generators and utilities to make optimum use of their supply and generation capacities with knowledge of weather conditions obtained from IMD.

भारत मौसम विज्ञान विभाग (आईएमडी) ने ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में मौसम की जानकारी तथा पूर्वानुमान के अधिकतम उपयोग के लिए पॉवर सिस्टम ऑपरेशन कार्पोरेशन लिमिटेड के साथ समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किए। समझौता ज्ञापन का उद्देश्य आईएमडी से प्राप्त मौसम की स्थिति की जानकारी के साथ पॉवर ऑपरेटरों, जनरेटरों और यूटिलिटियों को उनकी आपूर्ति और उत्पादन क्षमताओं का अधिकतम उपयोग करने में सक्षम करना है।

3. According to a United Nations report, India's economic growth is projected to surpass China's in 2015-16. GDP is expected to grow by 7.7 per cent in 2016. The mid-year update of the UN World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP) said India's economy is projected to grow by 7.6 per cent this year and 7.7 per cent in 2016, overtaking China. China is projected to grow by 7 per cent in 2015 and 6.8 per cent next year.

संयुक्त राष्ट्र की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार 2015-16 में भारत का आर्थिक विकास चीन को पीछे छोड़ देगा। 2016 में भारत की सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) विकास दर 7.7 प्रतिशत रहने की संभावना है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र विश्व आर्थिक स्थिति और संभावनाएँ (डब्ल्यूईएसपी) के मध्य-वर्ष अद्यतन के अनुसार भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था की इस वर्ष 7.6 प्रतिशत की दर से विकास करने की संभावना है। यह दर 2016 में 7.7 प्रतिशत रह सकती है और भारत इस मामले में चीन को पीछे छोड़ देगा। चीन की विकास दर 2015 में 7 प्रतिशत और उसके अगले वर्ष 6.8 प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान है।

4. The last of four anti-submarine warfare (ASW) ships being made by the Indian Navy launched in Kolkata. INS Kavaratti, which is 90 percent indigenous, is the last of four ASW class stealth corvettes being built for the Indian Navy under Project 28. The other three ships of the same class are INS Kamrota, INS Kadmatt and INS Kiltan.

स्वदेशीकरण की दिशा में एक और बड़ा कदम बढ़ाते हुए चौथे पनडुब्बी रोधी लड़ाकू पोत का कोलकाता में जलावतरण किया गया। ‘आईएनएस कावारत्ती’’ जो 90 प्रतिशत स्वदेशी है, परियोजना 28 के तहत निर्मित युद्धक श्रेणी के लड़ाकू जलपोतों की श्रंखला में चौथा पनडुब्बी रोधी लड़ाकू पोत है। इसी श्रेणी के अन्य तीन जहाज आईएनएस कामरोता, आईएनएस कदमत और आईएनएस किल्तान हैं।

5. Bank of India has elevated R.A. Sankara Narayanan as the executive director of the bank. Narayanan had joined the bank as direct recruit officer in 1983. He is a post graduate, MBA and a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). Narayanan was elevated as a general manager of the bank in September 2011 and was overseeing the international operations of the bank.

बैंक ऑफ इंडिया ने आर.ए. शंकर नारायणन को कार्यकारी निदेशक का पदभार सौंपा है। नारायणन 1983 में बैंक में सीधे तौर पर एक अधिकारी के रूप में नियुक्त हुए थे। उन्होंने स्नातकोत्तर एवं एमबीए की शिक्षा प्राप्त की है। इसके अलावा वह भारतीय बैंकर संस्थान के प्रमाणित सहायक भी हैं। सितंबर 2011 में नारायणन को बैंक ऑफ इंडिया का प्रबंध निदेशक बनाया गया था जिसके बाद वह बैंक के अंतरराष्ट्रीय संचालन पर नजर रखते थे।

6. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) named Kuldeep Malik as the new chief national coach in place of axed Vinod Kumar. Dhyanchand awardee Malik, who has been the women's freestyle chief coach till now, will be mentoring the men's freestyle team as well.

भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ (डब्ल्यूएफआई) ने ध्यानचंद अवार्डी कुलदीप मलिक को नया मुख्य राष्ट्रीय कोच नियुक्त किया है। वे निलंबित किए गए मुख्य राष्ट्रीय पुरूष फ्रीस्टाइल कोच विनोद कुमार की जगह लेंगे। मलिक महिला टीम के अब तक मुख्य कोच थे और अब वे पुरूष फ्री स्टाइल टीम के कोच का दायित्व भी संभालेंगे। 

7. Yorkshire batsman Joe Root has been elected England Cricketer of the Year for 2014-15 by British sports journalists, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced. The 24-year-old has scored 1,135 Test runs at an average of nearly 95 over the past 12 months. Root, recently appointed vice-captain of England's Test team, overcame competition from a shortlist including James Anderson, Moeen Ali and Gary Ballance to win the award for the first time. Charlotte Edwards was named England Women's Cricketer of the Year for the second consecutive year

जो रूट को वर्ष 2014-15 के लिए इंग्लैंड का सर्वश्रेष्ठ क्रिकेटर चुना गया है। पिछले एक साल में जिस तरह का प्रदर्शन जो रूट ने किया है, उसी के आधार पर उन्हें ब्रिटिश खेल पत्रकारों ने वर्ष 2014-15 के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ क्रिकेटर चुना है। 24 वर्षीय रुट ने पिछले 12 महीने में 95 की औसत से 1135 टेस्ट रन बनाये। हाल ही में इंग्लैंड टेस्ट टीम के उपकप्तान बनाये गए रुट ने जेम्स एंडरसन, मोईन अली और गैरी बालांस को पछाड़कर यह पुरस्कार जीता। चार्लोट एडवर्ड्स को लगातार दूसरे साल सर्वश्रेष्ठ महिला क्रिकेटर चुना गया।

8. Pakistan's premier intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Afghan intelligence outfit National Directorate of Security (NDS) have signed a landmark deal for cooperation aimed at curbing terrorism. Under the first-of-its-kind deal between Pakistan and Afghanistan the two intelligence agencies will exchange intelligence information with each other.

पाकिस्तान की प्रमुख खुफिया एजेंसी इंटर सर्विसेज इंटेलिजेंस (आईएसआई) और अफगानिस्तान की नेशनल डाइरेक्टरेट ऑफ सिक्यूरिटी (एनडीएस) ने आतंकवाद रोकने के उद्देश्य से सहयोग के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। अपनी तरह के पहले समझौते के तहत पाकिस्तान और अफगानिस्तान की खुफिया एजेंसियां एक दूसरे के साथ खुफिया सूचनाओं का आदान-प्रदान करेंगी।

9. Six Indian-Americans and a British-Indian were among nearly 100 individuals who were presented prestigious 2015 Ellis Island Medals of Honor in the US for their contributions to America. Indian-American winners include Meera Gandhi, founder of The Giving Back Foundation, Rajdeep K. Dhami, Chad P. Gehani, Rahul M. Jindal, S. Mona Sinha, chairperson of the Asian Women's Leadership University (AWLU) Project, and K.V. Kumar. Baroness Sandip Verma, member of the House of Lords, and a former junior minister at the Department of Energy and Climate Change in the UK, also received the award presented recently in New York.

10. Former Union minister and BJP MP S.S. Ahluwalia was appointed chairman of a Joint Committee of Parliament that will go into the provisions of the controversial land acquisition bill. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has made the appointment. Ahluwalia is a BJP Lok Sabha member from Darjeeling in West Bengal.

पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री और भाजपा सांसद एसएस आहलूवालिया को दोनों सदनों की संयुक्त समिति का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है जो विवादास्पद भूमि अधिग्रहण विधेयक के प्रावधानों पर विचार करेगी। लोकसभा अध्यक्ष सुमित्रा महाजन ने उनकी नियुक्ति की है जो सोमवार से प्रभावी हो गई। आहलूवालिया पश्चिम बंगाल में दार्जीलिंग से भाजपा के लोकसभा सदस्य हैं।
