VoIP service provider Skype has entered into a first-of-its-kind partnership in India with Hindi general entertainment channel Colors for its reality show ‘India’s Got Talent’.
As part of this association, a unique Skype ID, namely ‘IGTonColors’, has been created for the show to facilitate interactions with the judges, hosts and the participants. In its sixth season, ‘India’s Got Talent’ airs every Saturday & Sunday at 9 pm.
Regarding this tie-up, Colors CEO Raj Nayak said, “This first-of-its-kind partnership between an Indian television show and an internationally acclaimed internet-calling service major is a move towards heightening engagement avenues and create direct connect with the viewers. Our integration with Skype is a step towards expanding the reach of social platform for ‘India’s Got Talent’ across the world. By integrating Skype online as well as on air, we aim to highlight that while this service brings you one step closer to your loved ones, ‘India’s Got Talent’ strives to achieve the same by recognising outstanding Indian talent.”
Through the Skype ID, users will be able to connect with like-minded fans of the show, gain access to exclusive ‘India’s Got Talent’ content, and send any questions they may have to the judges and presenters.
Skype GM audience marketing Angie Hill said, “The collaboration is the perfect example of ways in which our users can interact naturally with the things that matter to them. Whether that be questions to the judges, hosts or even the talent, Skype users have the unique opportunity to engage with the show and get a lot more from their viewing experience, by simply using the Skype ID ‘IGTonColors’.”
Using the Skype ID, viewers can chat with judges, presenters and contestants. Besides, there will be competitions on Skype that will give viewers prizes including tickets to the finals of ‘India’s Got Talent’ on 27 June 2015.
Skype will also enable exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the show for viewers. These will include webisodes featuring highlights from the show, bloopers, and exclusive interviews with judges, presenters and contestants.
To be led by social media host Meiyang Chang, the series will give viewers a glimpse into the talent interspersed with humour as Chang shares his opinions on the performances. In order to connect contributors with the show, a Skype TX Studio has been installed on the sets of the show in Mumbai.
The technology will allow Skype users to interact with the stars and contestants. Fans will be able to connect with the show through a range of Skype product features such as Skype-to-Skype calls, group video calls and instant video messages.
Bollywood personalities Karan Johar, Kirron Kher and Malaika Arora Khan are the judges for the sixth season of ‘India’s Got Talent’, which premiered on 17 April on Colors. The show is hosted by comedienne Bharti Singh and model-actor Nakuul Mehta.
The Guinness World Record-breaking franchise is co-produced by Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia. There are 67 local versions across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas, and 193 countries in the world have aired a version of the format.
