1. Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai will be given the prestigious Lifetime Achievement honour at the upcoming International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur next month. Ghai, 70, who directed notable films like Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Ram Lakhan and Taal, will be honoured for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema and nurturing young talents through his media institution Whistling Woods.

नामी फिल्मकार सुभाष घई को अगले महीने कुआलालंपुर में आगामी आईफा पुरस्कार समारोह में प्रतिष्ठित लाइफटाइम अचीवमेंट सम्मान से नवाजा जाएगा। ‘कालीचरण, ‘कर्ज, ‘हीरो, ‘रामलखन’जैसी सफल फिल्में निर्देशित करने वाले घई (70) को भारतीय सिनेमा में उनके बेहतरीन योगदान और अपने मीडिया संस्थान व्हिसलिंग वुड्स के जरिए युवा प्रतिभाओं को निखारने के लिए सम्मानित किया जाएगा।

2. The Indian food and beverage sector, which is currently growing at 23 to 24 per cent annually, is likely to touch Rs. 3.80 lakh crore by 2017, according to a survey. A FICCI Grant Thornton report says the sector is largely dominated by the unorganised segment that would decline significantly in the next four to five years. Presently, the F&B (food and beverage) market is worth Rs 2.04 lakh crore.

फिक्की-ग्रांट थोर्नटन रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, भारतीय खाद्य एवं पेय (एफऐंडबी) बाजार वर्ष 2017 तक 3.80 लाख करोड़ रुपये का हो जायेगा। इस क्षेत्र में इस समय 23 से 24 प्रतिशत सालाना वृद्धि हो रही है। इस रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, इस क्षेत्र में वर्तमान में असंगठित खंड का वर्चस्व है जिसमें अगले चार से पांच सालों में काफी गिरावट आएगी। विदित हो कि वर्तमान समय में खाद्य एवं पेय का बाजार 2.04 लाख करोड़ रुपये का है।

3. India’s exports to China are expected to grow by around 14 per cent a year in the decade to 2030, potentially outpacing outbound shipment growth to any other country, said an HSBC trade forecast report. Not just that, the report added, exports will head for newer markets, including Brazil, where the shipments from India are expected to grow by 10 per cent a year in the said period. The near-term outlook for India is upbeat, having low relative unit labour costs compared with other countries (both emerging markets and advanced economies), India will be competitive in the international market.

भारत से चीन का निर्यात 2020-30 के दशक में करीब 14 फीसदी सालाना की गति से बढऩे की उम्मीद है जो किसी भी अन्य देश को निर्यात के मुकाबले अधिक होगा। यह बात एचएसबीसी व्यापार अनुमान रिपोर्ट में कही गई। रिपोर्ट में कहा गया कि सिर्फ इतना ही नहीं उक्त अवधि में ब्राजील समेत नए बाजारों में निर्यात भी 10 फीसदी सालाना की दर से बढ़ेगा। निकट भविष्य में भारत का परिदृश्य सकारात्मक है और अन्य देशों (उभरते और विकसित दोनों किस्म के बाजारों) के मुकाबले अपेक्षाकृत श्रम लागत कम रहने के कारण भारत अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर प्रतिस्पर्धी रहेगा।

4. The Central Government, has appointed Rajnish Kumar, Deputy Managing Director, State Bank of India, as Managing Director (fourth), State Bank of India, against the vacancy of A. Krishna Kumar (who superannuated on November 30, 2014), from the date of taking over the charge of the post and up to January 31, 2018 i.e. the date of his attaining the age of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

केंद्र सरकार ने भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (एसबीआई) के वर्तमान उप प्रबंध निदेशक रजनीश कुमार को बैंक का प्रबंध निदेशक (चौथे) नियुक्त किया है। कुमार की नियुक्ति उनके पदभार ग्रहण करने की तिथि से प्रभावी होगी और वह सेवानिवृति की उम्र (31 जनवरी 2018) या अगले आदेश तक इस पद पर बने रहेंगे। रजनीश कुमार, ए. कृष्ण कुमार की जगह लेंगे जो पिछले साल 30 नवंबर को सेवानिवृत हुये थे। 

5. AAP government appointed senior IAS officer Anindo Majumdar as the CMD of Delhi Finance Corporation, days after he was removed from the post of Principal Secretary of the Services Department. Majumdar was removed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as Principal Secretary of the Services Department on May 16 after he issued a notification appointing senior bureaucrat Shakuntla Gamlin as the acting Chief Secretary following instruction of Lt Governor Najeeb Jung.

आप सरकार ने वरिष्ठ आईएएस अधिकारी अनिंदो मजूमदार को दिल्ली वित्त निगम का अध्यक्ष एवं प्रबंध निदेशक नियुक्त कर दिया। कुछ ही दिन पहले उन्हें सेवा विभाग के मुख्य सचिव पद से हटा दिया गया था। मजूमदार ने उप राज्यपाल नजीब जंग के निर्देश पर वरिष्ठ नौकरशाह शकुंतला गैमलिन को कार्यकारी मुख्य सचिव नियुक्त करने वाली अधिसूचना जारी की थी। इस अधिसूचना के बाद 16 मई को मुख्यमंत्री ने मजूमदार को सेवा विभाग के मुख्य सचिव पद से हटा दिया था।

6. An Indian-origin teacher has been honoured by Oxford University for helping one of her students get into the world-famous varsity. Gurnimrat 'Nimmy' Sidhu, head of science at Oaks Park High School in north-east London, is among 12 teachers to win the 'University of Oxford Inspirational Teacher Award'.

7. Scientists have developed a new drone navigation system that allows these aerial vehicles to navigate without relying on a GPS signal or trained personnel. With the goal of achieving autonomous flight of drones, Jose Martinez Carranza from the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE) in Mexico, developed a vision and learning system to control and navigate them. Martinez structured an innovative method to estimate the position and orientation of the vehicle, allowing it to recognise its environment, hence to replace the Global Positioning System (GPS) for low-cost sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes and camcorders.

वैज्ञानिकों ने एक ऐसी ड्रोन प्रणाली विकसित की है जिसका संचालन बिना किसी जीपीएस संकेत या किसी प्रशिक्षित व्यक्ति की मदद के बिना किया जा सकेगा। मेक्सिको के नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ एस्ट्रोफिजिक्स, ऑप्टिक्स एंड इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स (आइएनएओई) के जोस मार्टिनेज कारंजा ने बिना किसी मदद के उड़ने वाले इस ड्रोन को नियंत्रित और उसके परिचालन की परिकल्पना की। मार्टिनेज ने एक नयी प्रणाली की संरचना तैयार की है। इस प्रणाली में वाहन की स्थिति और दिशा की जानकारी के लिए ग्लोबल पोजिशनिंग सिस्टम (जीपीएस) से निर्भरता खत्म हो जायेगी। इसके स्थान पर एक्सलरोमीटर, गायरोस्कोप या कैमकार्डर जैसे कम खर्च वाले सेंसरों का प्रयोग किया जा सकता है।

8. Documentary photographer Mary Ellen Mark, called "a snake charmer of the soul" for her gift of capturing searing images of human vulnerability, has died at age 75.

वृत्तचित्र फोटोग्राफर मैरी एलेन मार्क, जिनको "ए स्नेक चार्मर ऑफ सोल " कहा जाता था क्योंकि वे मानव भेद्यता की अत्यंत कठोर छवियां लेने में अत्यंत कुशल थीं, का 75 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हो गया।

9. Pakistani spinner Raza Hasan was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from playing any form of cricket for two years after being tested positive for a prohibited substance. Hasan has played 10 Twenty20 matches for Pakistan, having made his debut in September 2012. His ODI experience is limited to only one match, and he last played international cricket in December 2014 against New Zealand.

पाकिस्तान क्रिकेट बोर्ड (पीसीबी) ने डोपिंग में पकड़े जाने के बाद पाकिस्तान स्पिनर रजा हसन के सभी प्रकार के क्रिकेट खेले जाने पर दो वर्ष का प्रतिबन्ध लगाने की घोषणा की गई। हसन ने पाकिस्तान के लिए वर्ष 2012 में पदार्पण किया था और अब तक 10 टी20 मैच खेले हैं। वहीं उन्होंने अपने देश के लिए मात्र एक एक-दिवसीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मैच (ओडीआई) खेला है जोकि दिसम्बर 2014 में न्यूज़ीलैण्ड के खिलाफ हुआ था।
