1. India-born Sundar Pichai was named CEO of Google by the company's founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin in course of a re-organization that created a mother company called Alphabet. All the companies of Google will work in collaboration with Alphabet. Pichai, 43, is a Chennai native and a passout of IIT Kharagpur. Page will be CEO of Alphabet.

भारतीय मूल के सुंदर पिचाई को गूगल के संस्थापक लैरी पेज और सर्गेई ब्रिन ने गूगल का नया सीईओ नियुक्त किया है। अल्फाबेट के नाम से एक नई कंपनी बनाई गई है और गूगल की सभी कंपनियां इसी के साथ मिलकर काम करती रहेंगी। पिचाई (43), चिन्नई निवासी तथा आईआईटी खडगपुर से पासआउट हैं। पेज, अल्फाबेट के सीईओ होंगे।

2. World's fifth seeded Japan`s Kei Nishikori defeated big-serving American John Isner 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to win the Washington Open and capture his 10th career ATP title. The 25-year-old Asia's number one won his third crown of the season by defeating eighth seeded Isner.

विश्व के पांचवें नंबर के खिलाड़ी जापान के केई निशिकोरी ने वाशिंगटन ओपन के फाइनल में अमेरिका के जान इस्नर को हराकर करियर का दसवां एटीपी खिताब जीता। यह उनके करियर का 10वां एटीपी खिताब है। एशिया के नंबर एक खिलाड़ी, 25 वर्षीय निशिकोरी ने संघर्षपूर्ण खिताबी मुकाबले में आठवीं सीड इस्नर को 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 से हराकर वाशिंगटन ओपन जीता। यह इनके इस सत्र का तीसरा खिताब है।

3. President Pranab Mukherjee presented the 24th Saraswati Samman for 2014 to Kannada writer and former Union Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily for his epic “Sri Ramayana Mahanveshanam” written in Kannada. He is the second author to get this award in Kannada. Moily's award-winning epic “Sri Ramayana Mahanveshanam” was published in 2007. So far it has been translated in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu languages.

राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कन्नड़ के लेखक और पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री डॉ. एम. वीरप्पा मोइली को वर्ष 2014 का 24वां सरस्वती सम्मान प्रदान किया। कन्नड़ में यह पुरस्कार पाने वाले वह दूसरे रचनाकार हैं। मोइली को यह सम्मान उनके कन्नड़ में लिखे गए महाकाव्य “श्री रामायण महान्वेषणम के लिए प्रदान किया गया। मोइली की पुरस्कृत कति श्री रामायण महान्वेषणम” वर्ष 2007 में प्रकाशित हुई थी। इसका अब तक हिंदी, अंग्रेजी, तमिल और तेलुगू भाषाओं में अनुवाद हो चुका है।

4. As per the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) 2015, of the World Economic Forum, rank of India has improved significantly to 52nd in 2015 from 65th in 2013. Improving ranking of India from 65th to 52nd position in travel and tourism competitiveness index had been set as a target in the Result Framework Document (RFD) of Ministry of Tourism for the year 2014-15.

विश्‍व आर्थिक मंच के यात्रा और पर्यटन प्रतिस्‍पर्द्धात्‍मक सूचकांक (टीटीसीआई) 2015 के अनुसार भारत 2013 में 65वें पायदान पर था। 2015 में महत्‍वपूर्ण सुधार के कारण 52वें स्‍थान पर पहुंच गया है। यात्रा और पर्यटन प्रतिस्‍पर्द्धात्‍मक सूचकांक में भारत द्वारा अपनी स्थिति 65वें स्‍थान से सुधार कर 52वें स्‍थान पर पहुंचने के लक्ष्‍य को पर्यटन मंत्रालय के वर्ष 2014-15 के परिणामी ढांचा दस्‍तावेज आरएफडी में निर्धारित किया गया है।

5. Dr. Najma Heptulla, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs launched a new Central Sector Scheme – Nai Manzil in Patna. The scheme “Nai Manzil” scheme will address educational and livelihood needs of minority communities in general and muslims in particular as it lags behind other minority communities in terms of educational attainments. It is a new direction and a new goal for the all out of school/dropped out students and those studying in Madrasas.

केंद्रीय अल्‍पसंख्‍यक मामलों की मंत्री डॉ. नजमा हेपतुल्‍ला ने नई केंद्रीय क्षेत्र योजना- नई मंजिल का पटना में शुभारंभ किया। नई मंजिल योजना सामान्‍य रूप से अल्‍पसंख्‍यक समुदायों, विशेष रूप से मुसलमानों की शैक्षिक और जीविकोपार्जन की जरूरतों में सहायता प्रदान करेगी, क्‍यों‍कि मुसलमान शैक्षिक योग्‍यताओं में अन्‍य अल्‍पसंख्‍यक समुदायों से पीछे हैं। यह योजना स्‍कूल से बाहर आए या बीच में ही पढ़ाई छोड़ चुके सभी छात्रों और मदरसों में पढ़ने वाले छात्रों के लिए एक नई दिशा और एक नया लक्ष्‍य प्रदान करती है। 

6. Thomas Cook (India) Limited announced acquiring Kuoni Group’s travel businesses in India and Hong Kong for Rs. 535 crore. It is a very big deal in India's Tourism sector. The deal includes outbound travel brand SOTC and destination management brand SITA. India-born entrepreneur Prem Watsa backs Thomas Cook (India) Ltd. The deal to acquire Kuoni Group’s travel businesses in India and Hong Kong is the third acquisition by it in the last two years.

थॉमस कुक (इण्डिया) लिमिटेड ने कुओनी समूह के भारत तथा हांग कांग में फैले ट्रैवल व्यवसाय को 535 करोड़ रुपए में खरीदने की घोषणा कर दी। यह भारत के पर्यटन क्षेत्र में एक बड़ा सौदा है। इस सौदे में कुओनी में शामिल दो ट्रैवल ब्राण्ड एसओटीसी और एसआईटीए भी शामिल हैं। भारतीय मूल प्रमुख उद्यमी, प्रेम वस्ता का थॉमस कुक इण्डिया पर नियंत्रण है। कुओनी के भारत और हांग कांग के ट्रैवल व्यवसाय को अधिग्रहित कर उसने इस क्षेत्र में पिछले दो सालों में ऐसा तीसरा अधिग्रहण किया है। 

7. Senior India hockey player Gurbaj Singh was suspended for 9 months for indulging in groupism and creating disharmony within the team. This suspension means that Gurbaj will be unable to play for India till 9 May 2016. The decision to suspend Gurbaj was taken after a meeting of Hockey India's disciplinary committee headed by Harbinder Singh with the midfielder and former India coach Jude Felix. 

भारत के वरिष्ठ हॉकी खिलाड़ी गुरबाज सिंह को 9 महीने के लिए निलंबित कर दिया गया उन पर टीम में गुटबाजी में शामिल रहने का आरोप है। इस निलंबन से गुरबाज 9 मई 2016 तक भारत के लिए नहीं खेल पाएंगे। हरबिंदर सिंह की अगुआई वाली हॉकी इंडिया की अनुशासन समिति ने मिडफील्डर और पूर्व भारतीय कोच ज्यूड फेलिक्स के साथ बैठक के बाद गुरबाज को निलंबित करने का निर्णय लिया गया।

8. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched a new mobile app named Disha to promote digital literacy in Bihar. The app aims to help people learn about computers and Internet through self learning modules. The app also aims to offer digital literacy to tribal and Dalit women in the state. The app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. The Ministry also launched Disha handbook that has pictographic lessons on computers operations. The Disha handbook is framed by the Common Service Centres (CSCs) for the purpose of digital literacy.

दूरसंचार मंत्री रवि शंकर प्रसाद ने दिशा नामक मोबाइल एप्प का आरंभ किया जिसका उद्देश्य बिहार में डिजिटल साक्षरता को बढ़ावा देना है। इस एप्प द्वारा लोग सेल्फ-लर्निंग मॉड्यूल के माध्यम से कंप्यूटर तथा इंटरनेट के बारे में शिक्षा प्राप्त कर सकेंगे। यह एप्प राज्य में दलित तथा जनजातीय महिलाओं की डिजिटल सक्षरता को भी बढ़ावा देगा। इसे गूगल प्ले स्टोर से निशुल्क डाउनलोड किया जा सकता है। मंत्रालय ने दिशा पुस्तिका भी लॉन्च की है जिसमें चित्रों के माध्यम से कंप्यूटर प्रणाली के बारे में जानकारी दी गयी है। यह दिशा पुस्तिका डिजिटल शिक्षा के प्रसार हेतु कॉमन सर्विस सेंटर (सीएससी) द्वारा तैयार की गयी है।

9. In view of the forthcoming festival of Raksha Bandhan, a special enrolment drive, “Suraksha Bandhan”, is being launched by participating banks and insurance companies for enrolling bank account holders in Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). The “Suraksha Bandhan” drive aims to take forward the Government’s objective of creating a universal social security system in the country. It is targeted especially at the poor and the under-privileged. 

आगामी “रक्षा-बन्धन” उत्सव के परिप्रेक्ष्य में अधिकाधिक लोगों को प्रधानमंत्री सुरक्षा बीमा योजना (पीएमएसबीवाई) तथा प्रधानमंत्री जीवन ज्योति बीमा योजना (पीएमजेजेबीवाई) में नामांकित कराने के उद्देश्य से इन योजनाओं में भाग ले रहे बैंकों तथा बीमा कम्पनियों ने “सुरक्षा बन्धन” नामक एक विशेष नामांकन अभियान शुरू किया है। “सुरक्षा बन्धन” अभियान का उद्देश्य केन्द्र सरकार के देश भर में सार्वजनिक समाजिक सुरक्षा प्रणाली को और मजबूत करने के उद्देश्य को आगे ले जाना है। यह मुख्यत: गरीब तथा आर्थिक रूप से पिछड़े लोगों पर लक्षित है।

10. The Government has launched the School Nursery Yojana, an initiative to bring students closer to nature, by involving them in raising of saplings in nurseries created in schools. The underlying theme of the Yojana is to plant a tree for sustainable future and to make the nation clean and green. Under the Yojana, students will sow the seeds, grow saplings in the school nursery, as part of practical exercise for Biology classes and extra-curricular activities for students of other streams. 

सरकार ने एक स्कूल नर्सरी योजना का शुभारंभ किया है। इस योजना के माध्यम से छात्रों को स्कूलों में बनी नर्सरियों में पौध तैयार करने के काम में शामिल करके उन्हें प्रकृति के निकट लाने की दिशा में एक पहल की जा रही है। इस योजना का मूल उद्देश्य टिकाऊ भविष्य के लिए एक पेड़ लगाकर राष्ट्र को स्वच्छ और हरित बनाना है। योजना के अंतर्गत छात्र जीवविज्ञान कक्षाओं के लिए व्यावहारिक अभ्यास के हिस्से के रूप में और अन्य विषय के छात्रों के लिए पाठ्यक्रम के अतिरिक्त गतिविधियों के तौर पर स्कूल में बनी नर्सरियों में बीज बो कर पौध तैयार करेंगे।
