1. India and Russia signed an agreement in defence sector. In a move aimed at boosting India’s defence sector, 200 helicopters will be manufactured in the country with Russian collaboration as part of intensification and diversification of their strategic ties. According to Indian Ambassador to Russia P.S. Raghavan the agreement is one of the several new defence projects on which the two countries are working on, including under the ambit of ‘Make in India’ programme.

भारत और रूस ने रक्षा क्षेत्र में एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए। भारत के उत्पादन रक्षा क्षेत्र को बढ़ावा देने के कदम के तहत देश में रूस के सहयोग से 200 सैन्य हेलिकॉप्टरों का विनिर्माण किया जाएगा। यह योजना दोनों देशों के रणनीतिक संबंधों को और अधिक गहन और विविधतापूर्ण बनाने की पहल का हिस्सा है। रूस में भारत के राजदूत पी.एस. राघवन के अनुसार यह उन कई रक्षा परियोजनाओं में से है जिन पर दोनों देश काम कर रहे हैं। इनमें मेक इन इंडिया कार्यक्रम के तहत परियोजनाएं भी शामिल हैं।

2. With bilateral trade extremely low, India and Russia have initiated steps to remove the hindrances and boost commerce by signing an agreement in the area of customs and moving to liberalize business visas. The bilateral trade during the last year was just $9.51 billion. The two countries have fixed a trade target of $30 billion to be achieved by 2025.

भारत और रूस ने व्यापार में आपसी बाधाएं दूर करने और व्यापार संवर्धन के लिए सीमा शुल्क के क्षेत्र में सहयोग और कारोबारी वीजा उदार को बनाने के संबंध में एक समझौता किया है। दोनों देशों के बीच आपसी व्यापार अभी काफी कम है। पिछले साल द्विपक्षीय व्यापार मात्र 9.51 अरब डॉलर का था। अब दोनों देशों ने 2025 तक आपसी व्यापार को बढाकर 30 अरब डॉलर करने का लक्ष्य तय किया है।

3. The Kerala Tourism has bagged this year's Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) award for its Muziris Heritage Project in the 'Heritage & Culture' category. The award, sponsored by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), went to the Muziris Heritage Project for its conservational efforts, uniqueness and impact on local community. The flagship project of the government of Kerala is one of the biggest heritage conservation projects of modern India.

केरल पर्यटन ने 'विरासत और संस्कृति' श्रेणी में अपनी मुजिरिस विरासत परियोजना के लिए इस वर्ष का पैसिफिक एशिया ट्रैवल एसोसिएशन (पीएटीए) पुरस्कार जीता। मकाऊ सरकार पर्यटन कार्यालय (एमजीटीओ) द्वारा प्रायोजित पुरस्कार मुजिरिस विरासत परियोजना को उसके संरक्षणात्मक प्रयासों, विशिष्टता और स्थानीय समुदाय पर उसके प्रभाव के लिए प्रदान किया गया। केरल सरकार की यह प्रमुख परियोजना आधुनिक भारत की सबसे बड़ी विरासत संरक्षण परियोजनाओं में से एक है।

4. French Formula One driver Jules Bianchi (25), who sustained serious head injuries at last year’s Japanese Grand Prix, passed away. He was in coma for last 9 months. He was racing for F1 team Marussia at this Grand Prix. He sustained critical head injuries in the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka in October 2014.

पिछले साल अक्टूबर माह में जापानी फार्मूला वन ग्रां प्री में हुई दुर्घटना में सिर की गंभीर चोट के चलते पिछले 9 माह से कोमा में चल रहे फ्रांसीसी फार्मूला वन ड्राइवर जूल्स बिआंची का निधन हो गया। वे मारुसिया फार्मूला वन रेसिंग टीम का प्रतिनिधित्व कर रहे थे। 25-वर्षीय जूल्स बिआंची सुजुका में अक्टूबर 2014 में हुई जापानी ग्रां प्री में गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए थे।

5. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) retained its India GDP growth projection for FY 2015-16 at 7.8 percent and 8.2 percent in 2016-17, but cautioned that delay in reforms relating to land acquisition and GST could hamper growth. Indian economy grew 7.3 percent in 2014-15. ADB, however, has cut its growth forecast for developing Asia to 6.1 percent from the earlier 6.3 percent.

एशियाई विकास बैंक (एडीबी) ने वित्त वर्ष 2015-16 के दौरान भारत के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद की वृद्धि दर का अनुमान 7.5 प्रतिशत पर तथा 2016-17 के लिए 8.2 प्रतिशत पर बनाए रखा है। हालांकि, आगाह किया कि भूमि अधिग्रहण और वस्तु एवं सेवा कर (जीएसटी) से जुड़े सुधार में देरी से वृद्धि प्रभावित हो सकती है। भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था की वृद्धि दर 2014-15 में 7.3 प्रतिशत थी। एडीबी ने हालांकि, एशिया के विकास का अनुमान घटाकर 6.1 प्रतिशत कर दिया जो पहले 6.3 प्रतिशत था।

6. The French government has knighted veteran South African freedom fighter Ahmed Kathrada for his life-long service to the community. The award is part of the National Orders of the Legion of Honour established by Napoleon Bonaparte in May 1802. Kathrada, 85, became the confidante of anti-apartheid icon and former South African president Nelson Mandela.

फ्रांस सरकार ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका के स्वतंत्रता सेनानी अहमद कथ्रादा को समाज के प्रति उनकी सेवा को देखते हुए उन्हें प्रतिष्ठित 'नाइट' सम्मान से सम्मानित किया है। यह सम्मान नेशनल आर्डर्स ऑफ द लेजियन ऑफ ऑनर का हिस्सा है, जिसकी शुरुआत नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट ने मई 1802 में की थी। कथ्रादा (85) रंगभेद विरोध आंदोलन के नेता दक्षिण अफ्रीका के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति नेल्सन मंडेला के विश्वास पात्र बन गए थे।

7. Prashant Pathrabe was appointed as the new Director of Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) by the Union Govt. Prashant Pathrabe is the Director of National Film Archive of India (Pune) and he has been given the charge of FTII Director as additional charge. Pathrabe, an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad joined the Indian Information Service in 1993. He replaced D.J. Narain.

केन्द्र सरकार ने प्रशांत पथराबे को पुणे स्थित फिल्म एण्ड टेलीविज़न इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इण्डिया (एफटीआईआई) का निदेशक नियुक्त किया है। प्रशांत पथराबे पुणे में ही स्थित राष्ट्रीय फिल्म आर्काइव्ज़ के निदेशक के पद पर हैं तथा उन्हें एफटीआईआई के निदेशक का अतिरिक्त प्रभार सौंपा गया है। वे भारतीय प्रबन्धन संस्थान, अहमदाबाद से एमबीए हैं तथा 1993 में वे भारतीय सूचना सेवा में शामिल हो गए थे। उन्होंने डी.जे. नारायण का स्थान लिया है।

8. An Indian-origin doctor has received the honorary fellowship by one of the leading British Universities for his contribution to the community as a general practitioner and medical educator. 77-year-old Shiv Pande has been awarded an honorary fellowship of the University of Central Lancashire. 

भारतीय मूल के एक डॉक्टर को एक प्रैक्टिशनर और चिकित्सा शिक्षक के तौर पर समुदाय में योगदान देने के लिए प्रमुख ब्रिटिश विश्वविद्यालयों में से एक ने मानद फेलोशिप प्रदान की है। यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ सेंट्रल लंकाशाइर ने 77 वर्षीय शिव पांडे को मानद फेलोशिप प्रदान की है।

9. The Reserve Bank of India signed a special currency swap agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka that will allow the latter to draw up to $1.1 billion. Under the arrangement, the Sri Lankan bank can draw up to $1.1 billion for a maximum period of six months. Earlier in March, RBI had signed a Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for $400 million under the existing SAARC Currency Swap Framework within the overall limit of $2 billion.

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने सेंट्रल बैंक ऑफ़ श्रीलंका के साथ विशेष मुद्रा विनिमय समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये। इसके तहत सेंट्रल बैंक ऑफ़ श्रीलंका अधिकतम छह महीने तक 1.1 बिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर का विनिमय कर सकता है। इससे पहले मार्च 2015 में भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने सेंट्रल बैंक ऑफ़ श्रीलंका के साथ 400 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर के मुद्रा विनिमय समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये थे। सार्क देशों के मुद्रा विनिमय फ्रेमवर्क के तहत इसकी सीमा 2 बिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर थी।
