1. Hawaii becomes first US state to raise smoking age from 18 years to 21 years. Hawaii's governor signed a bill raising the legal smoking age statewide to 21. The law takes effect on January 1, 2016, and will also ban the sale, purchase or use of electronic cigarettes for those under the age of 21. This law will help reduce tobacco use among youth in the state.

हवाई ऐसा पहला अमेरिकी राज्य बन गया है जिसने धूम्रपान की आयु को 18 वर्ष से बढ़ाकर 21 वर्ष कर दिया है। हवाई के गवर्नर ने एक विधेयक पर हस्ताक्षर किए जिससे धूम्रपान की आयु को राज्यव्यापी रूप से 18 वर्ष से बढ़ाकर 21 वर्ष कर दिया गया है। यह कानून 1 जनवरी 2016 से प्रभाव में आएगा तथा यह 21 वर्ष से कम आयु वाले लोगों के लिए इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सिगरेट की बिक्री, खरीद या उपयोग पर भी प्रतिबंध लगाएगा। इस कानून से राज्य में युवाओं के बीच तंबाकू के इस्तेमाल को कम करने में मदद मिलेगी। 

2. ISRO has announced to provide navigational support to Indian Railways through GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) system. The navigational support along with space technology-based tools will be provided to Indian Railways for unmanned level crossings safety. By using GAGAN software system, a train will get to know the location of any unmanned level crossing by a warning signal. Once this warning signal is given, the train’s hooter will automatically start when it comes near an unmanned crossing.

भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) ने घोषणा की है कि वह रेलवे को जीपीएस एडेड जियो ऑगमेंटेड नेविगेशन (गगन) प्रणाली के जरिए परिचालन में सहयोग करेगा। इसरो उपग्रहों से प्राप्त सूचनाओं को अंतरिक्ष तकनीक आधारित प्रणालियों एवं उपकरणों के जरिए रेलवे तक पहुंचाएगा जिससे मानव रहित क्रासिंग सुरक्षित हो जाएंगे। गगन सॉफ्टवेयर प्रणाली का उपयोग करके एक ट्रेन को मानव रहित क्रासिंग से गुजरते वक्त स्वत: चेतावनी पहुंचेगी और उसका हूटर बजने लगेगा। 

3. Historian-author Ramachandra Guha has been selected for Japan's prestigious Fukuoka Prize in the Academic category. Dr. Guha's fellow winners this year are Thant Myint-U (Grand Prize) and Minh Hanh (Arts and Culture). Fukuoka Prize honours those who have made outstanding contributions to academia, arts and culture across Asia. Guha's works present thorough explanations of the complex history of India, a country with a great diversity of languages, ethnicities, religions, and castes.

इतिहासकार-लेखक रामचंद्र गुहा को शैक्षणिक वर्ग में जापान के प्रतिष्ठित फुकुओका पुरस्कार के लिए चयनित किया गया है। डॉ. गुहा के इस साल के साथी विजेताओं में थान्ट म्यिंट-यू (ग्रांड पुरस्कार) और मिन्ह हान्ह (कला और संस्कृति) शामिल हैं। फुकुओका पुरस्कार उन लोगों को सम्मानित करने के लिए प्रदान किया जाता है जिन्होंने एशिया भर में शिक्षा, कला और संस्कृति के लिए उत्कृष्ट योगदान दिया है। गुहा के कार्यों में भारत, जो भाषाओं, जातियों और धर्मों की विशाल विविधता का देश है, के जटिल इतिहास का पूर्ण स्पष्टीकरण मिलता हैं।

4. A leading Indian community organisation honoured a US senator as a ‘Friend of India’ award with five outstanding achievers of the Indian American community at its annual awards banquet in Stamford. The Connecticut chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) honoured senior Democratic senator from Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal, for the "Friend of India" award. With increasing US-India cooperation in defence, commerce and science & technology, Senator Blumenthal helped to improved bilateral relations between the two countries.

5. Eminent scientist and recipient of Bharat Ratna C.N.R. Rao was conferred Japan's highest civilian award for promoting academic interchange and mutual understanding in science and technology between the two countries. He was presented with the 'Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star' and certificate by Japanese Ambassador to India Takeshi Yagi.

जाने-माने वैज्ञानिक और भारत रत्न से सम्मानित सी.एन.आर. राव को जापान के सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान से सम्मानित किया गया। राव को दोनों देशों के बीच विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी के क्षेत्र में शैक्षणिक आदान-प्रदान और पारस्परिक समझ विकसित करने के लिए यह सम्मान दिया गया है। उन्हें भारत में जापानी राजदूत ताकेशी यागी ने 'ऑर्डर ऑफ द राइजिंग सन, गोल्ड एंड सिल्वर स्टार' और प्रमाणपत्र सौंपा गया।

6. China has manufactured the world’s first electric passenger aircraft “BX1E” of a14.5-metre wingspan, costing about one million Yuan ($163,000) having a maximum payload of 230kg. It can fly at an altitude of 3,000 metres. It can be charged within two hours, and can fly for 45 minutes to an hour at a maximum speed of 160kmph. The plane was designed by the Shenyang Aerospace University and Liaoning general aviation academy in the northeastern Liaoning province.

चीन ने दुनिया का पहला बिजली पर चलने वाला पैसेंजर एयरक्राफ्ट, “बीएक्सआईई, लगभग 1 मिलियन युआन (163,000 डॉलर) के मूल्य पर बनाया है। इसमें 14.5 मीटर का विंग्सपैन लगा है और 230 ग्राम मैक्सिमम पेलोड है। यह 3,000 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर उड़ सकता है। इसे दो घंटा के अंदर में चार्ज किया जा सकता है और ज्यादा से ज्यादा 160 किमी. प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से 45 मिनट से 1 घंटे तक उड़ान भर सकता है। इस जहाज का डिजाइन पूर्वोत्तर लायनिंग प्रांत में स्थित शेनयांग एयरोस्पेस यूनिवर्सिटी और लायनिंग जनरल एविएशन अकैडमी ने किया है।

7. State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest bank, has launched SBI eforex, an Internet-based platform that enables customers to book their foreign exchange transactions online. This smart platform facilitates the customers of the bank to obtain forex rates without having to physically visit the branch. The details of all transactions will be obtained on real time basis.

देश के सबसे बड़े ऋणदाता भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (एसबीआई) ने इंटरनेट आधारित प्लेटफॉर्म ‘एसबीआई ईफॉरेक्स’का शुभारंभ किया। यह ग्राहकों को उनके विदेशी मुद्रा लेनदेन को ऑनलाइन बुक करने में सक्षम बनाता है। इससे ग्राहकों को बिना शाखा में जाए फॉरेक्स दरें हासिल करने में मदद मिलेगी। सभी सौदों का ब्योरा रियल टाइम बेसिस पर मिल जाएगा।

8. Stepping up his digital presence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Narendra Modi Mobile App’ to provide instant updates and an opportunity to receive messages and emails directly from him. The Android-based application is also aimed at giving a chance to people to directly interact with him and share ideas and suggestions.

अपनी डिजिटल मौजूदगी को और मजबूत बनाने की पहल के तहत प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने 'नरेन्द्र मोदी मोबाइल ऐप' का शुभारंभ किया जिसके माध्यम से जरूरी जानकारी तत्काल अपडेट करने के साथ उनसे सीधा मैसेज और ई-मेल प्राप्त करने का भी मौका मिल सकेगा। एंड्रायड आधारित इस एप्लीकेशन का उद्देश्य लोगों को उनसे सीधा संवाद करने और विचारों एवं सुझावों को साझा करने का मौका प्रदान करना है।

9. BJP MLA and former Madhya Pradesh Minister Tukojirao Puar passed away at a private hospital. He was 51. He was a descendant of erstwhile Puar dynasty of Marathas that ruled Dewas state. 

भाजपा विधायक और मध्य प्रदेश के पूर्व मंत्री तुकोजीराव पवार का निजी अस्पताल निधन हो गया। वह 51 वर्ष के थे। वह मराठों के तत्कालीन पवार राजवंश जिन्होंने देवास राज्य पर शासन किया था के वंशज थे।

10. HDFC Bank launched a 10-second paperless instant loan plan for its existing customers. With this product, existing customers will have a pre-approved loan amount available to them 24x7. The entire process of availing the loan is completely paperless, and users can simply log into their bank account via net-banking or mobile banking and avail of this loan at a click. The loan is completely hassle-free and transparent.

एचडीएफसी बैंक ने अपने मौजूदा ग्राहकों के लिए 10 सेकेंड में कागजरहित तत्काल ऋण योजना का शुभारंभ किया है। इस योजना के साथ मौजूदा ग्राहकों के पास सातों दिन 24 घंटे पहले से मंजूर ऋण राशि उपलब्ध होगी। ऋण लेने की पूरी प्रक्रिया कागजरहित होगी और ग्राहक नेट-बैंकिंग या मोबाइल बैंकिंग के माध्यम से बैंक खाते पर लॉग इन कर सकते हैं और एक क्लिक में ऋण प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। ऋण पूरी तरह बिना किसी समस्या और पारदर्शी तरीके से उपलब्ध होगा।
