1. Norway is at the top of Global Motherhood Index 2015. It ranks as the world’s best location to be a mother. India scored 140th place out of 179 countries in the charity organization Save the Children’s 2015 report titled “State of the World’s Mothers” putting it behind Zimbabwe, Iraq and Bangladesh.

नॉर्वे वैश्विक मातृत्व सूचकांक 2015 में शीर्ष पर है। यह माँ बनने के लिए विश्व का सबसे अच्छा स्थान है। भारत का धर्मार्थ संगठन सेव द चिल्डरेन की 2015 की “स्टेट ऑफ द वर्ल्ड्स मदर” नामक रिपोर्ट में 179 देशों में से 140वां स्थान है। भारत इस सूचकांक पर जिम्बाब्वे, इराक और बांग्लादेश से भी पीछे है। 

2. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projected a 4.3 per cent growth rate for Pakistan this year and a higher 4.7 per cent in 2016, noting that the cash-strapped country would benefit from a global fall in crude oil prices.

अंतरराष्‍ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष (आईएमएफ) ने अनुमानित किया कि इस साल पाकिस्‍तान की विकास दर 4.3 फीसदी रहेगी। साल 2016 में यह दर 4.7 फीसदी रहने की संभावना है। आईएमएफ के अनुसार नकदी संकट से जूझते पाकिस्‍तान को वैश्विक स्‍तर पर क्रूड ऑयल की गिरती कीमतों से फायदा हुआ है।

3. Notwithstanding US objections, India went ahead with the signing of an agreement with Iran for the development of the strategically important Chabahar port which will give India sea-land access route to Afghanistan bypassing Pakistan. The pact was signed after comprehensive talks between visiting Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari with the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

अमेरिका की आपत्तियों के बावजूद भारत ने छाबर पोर्ट को विकसित करने के लिए ईरान के साथ समझौते पर हस्‍ताक्षर किए। रणनीतिक रूप से छाबर पोर्ट भारत के लिए बहुत महत्‍वपूर्ण है। यह भारत को पाकिस्‍तान को बाइपास कर अफगानिस्‍तान के लिए समुद्री रास्‍ता उपलब्‍ध कराएगा। केंद्रीय सड़क परिवहन व राजमार्ग मंत्री नितिन गडकरी ईरान यात्रा पर पहुंचे हैं। यहां दोनों देशों के बीच बातचीत के बाद इस समझौता पत्र पर नितिन गडकरी और ईरान के राष्‍ट्रपति हसन रूहानी द्वारा हस्‍ताक्षर किए गए।

4. The French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, under armed security was presented a freedom of expression award from the PEN American Center in New York. Editor-in-chief Gerard Biard and critic-essayist Jean-Baptiste Thoret accepted the Freedom of Expression Courage Award.

फ्रांसीसी सटायर मैगजीन चार्ली हेब्दो को न्यूयॉर्क में पेन अमेरिकन सेंटर द्वारा आयोजित समारोह में कड़ी सुरक्षा के बीच सम्मानित किया गया है। यह पुरस्कार अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता को प्रोत्साहन देने के तहत दिया जाता है। व्यंग मैगजीन के मुख्य संपादक गेरार्ड बिआर्ड और आलोचक-निबंधकार जीन-बैप्टिस्ट थोरेट ने फ्रीडम ऑफ एक्सप्रैशन करैज अवॉर्ड स्वीकार किया। 

5. Former professional boxer Andrew Lewis died in his native Guyana after a motorist struck him on his bicycle. He was 44. The retired boxer was popularly nicknamed "Six Heads". Lewis, who competed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games before turning professional in 1993, shot to stardom eight years later when he defeated American James Page to capture the vacant WBA welterweight title.

गयाना के पूर्व विश्व चैम्पियन मुक्केबाज एंड्रू लेविस का एक सड़क दुर्घटना के बाद निधन हो गया। 44 वर्षीय लेविस का निधन एक कार से उनकी बाईसिकल के टक्कर लगने से हुई। संयास ले चुके यह मुक्केबाज "सिक्स हेड्स" के नाम से प्रसिद्ध थे। लेविस 1992 में बार्सिलोना में हुए ओलम्पिक में हिस्सा ले चुके हैं तथा 1993 में उन्होंने पेशेवर मुक्केबाजी में कदम रखा। इसके आठ वर्षों बाद लेविस ने अमेरिका के जेम्स पेज को हराकर डब्ल्यूबीए विश्व चैम्पियनशिप में वेल्टरवेट स्पर्धा का खिताब जीता।

6. America's President Barack Obama nominated Marine Commandant Gen. Joseph Dunford Jr. as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Dunford would replace Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, who is retiring at the end of this year after four years in that position.

अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने मरीन कमांडेंट जनरल जोसेफ डनफोर्ड जूनियर का चयन अगले जॉइंट चीफ्स ऑफ स्टाफ पद के लिए किया है। डनफोर्ड जनरल मार्टिन ई. डेंपसी की जगह लेंगे। चार सालों तक काम करने के बाद मार्टिन इस साल के अंत में पदमुक्त हो जाएंगे।

7. Olympic skiing champion Lindsey Vonn has become an honorary ambassador for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games. The 30-year-old is the first international athlete to be named an honorary spokesperson for the first Winter Games to be held in South Korea.

ओलिंपिक स्कीइंग चैंपियन लिंडसे वोन 2018 प्योंगचैंग शीतकालीन खेलों के लिए मानद राजदूत बन गयी हैं। 30 वर्षीय, दक्षिण कोरिया में आयोजित होने वाले पहले शीतकालीन खेलों के लिए एक मानद प्रवक्ता के रूप में नामित होने वाली पहली अंतरराष्ट्रीय एथलीट हैं।

8. The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for revising the Double Taxation Avoidance Convention (DTAC) which was signed in 1985, between India and the Republic of Korea, for the avoidance of double taxation and for the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income. The revised Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) will provide tax stability to the residents of India and Korea and facilitate mutual economic cooperation as well as stimulate the flow of investment, technology and services between the two countries.

केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में हुई बैठक में भारत और कोरिया गणराज्य के बीच दोहरे कर से बचने और आय पर राजकोषीय कर वंचना की रोकथाम के बारे में दोहरे कराधान से बचाव समझौते (डीटीएसी) के संशोधन को मंजूरी प्रदान की। इस समझौते पर 1985 में हस्ताक्षर किए गए थे। संशोधित समझौता भारत और कोरिया के निवासियों को कर स्थिरता प्रदान करेगा। इससे आपसी आर्थिक सहयोग को बढ़ावा मिलेगा और दोनों देशों के बीच निवेश, प्रौद्योगिकी और सेवाओं का प्रवाह बढ़ाने में मदद मिलेगी। 

9. The Union Ministry for Social Justice & Empowerment launched the Credit Enhancement Guarantee Scheme for Scheduled Castes. The scheme is being implemented by Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) Ltd. A sum of 200 crore rupees was allocated towards Credit Enhancement Guarantee scheme for young and start-up entrepreneurs belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) to avail financial assistance.

सामाजिक न्याय एवं अधिकारिता मंत्रालय ने अनुसूचित जातियों के लिए ऋण वृद्धि गारंटी योजना का शुभारंभ किया। योजना को भारतीय औद्योगिक वित्त निगम लिमिटेड (आईएफसीआई) द्वारा कार्यान्वित किया जा रहा है। वित्तीय सहायता का लाभ उठाने के लिए अनुसूचित जाति के युवा और ऐसे उद्यमी जिन्होंने अपना व्यवसाय शुरू किया हो, के लिए ऋण वृद्धि गारंटी योजना को 200 करोड़ रुपए की राशि आवंटित की गई थी।
