1. Cabinet clears anti corruption law

i. Bringing corruption into the heinous crime category, the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved official amendments to an anti-graft legislation enhancing the penalty under it to a maximum of seven years imprisonment from the present five years.

ii. The proposed amendments to the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 provides for more stringent punishment for the offences of bribery--both for the bribe giver and the bribe taker.

iii. The official amendments propose to confer the powers of attachment upon the trial Court (Special Judge) instead of the District Court.

iv. The proposed amendments would fill in perceived gaps in the domestic anti-corruption law and also help in meeting the country's obligations under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).

2. Union Cabinet approves Atal Mission for Rejuvenation

i. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved Central Government spending of about one lakh crore on urban development under two new urban missions over the next five years.

ii. The Cabinet has approved the Smart Cities Mission and the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation of 500 cities (AMRUT) with outlays of Rs.48,000 crore and Rs.50,000 crore respectively.

iii. Under the Smart Cities Mission, each selected city would get central assistance of Rs.100 crore per year for five years. Smart City aspirants will be selected through a ‘City Challenge Competition'.

iv. Smart City Action Plans will be implemented by Special Purpose Vehicles(SPV) to be created for each city and state governments will ensure steady stream of resources for SPVs.

3. Rs 1,000 minimum pension under EPS to continue

i. The Cabinet approved the continuation of Rs 1,000 minimum monthly pension for pensioners under the Employees' Pension Scheme beyond the financial year 2014-15.

ii. The decision to continue with the pension on perpetual basis was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

iii. The Cabinet also approved corresponding grant of continuous annual budgetary support for implementing the minimum pension, which will be to the tune of Rs 850 crore per year on a tapering basis.

4. Flipkart acquires Appiterate

i. Online marketplace Flipkart has acquired Delhi-based mobile engagement and marketing automation company Appiterate.

ii. Appiterate started as an A/B testing product for native mobile apps later on expanded into a full-fledged mobile marketing automation platform.

iii. Post the acquisition, Appiterate's mobile marketing automation platform will be integrated into Flipkart’s mobile app.

5. World Women Chess: Harika wins silver, bronze for Humpy

i. D Harika and Koneru Humpy came up with fine individual performances to win silver and a bronze respectively.

ii.  Indian eves finished fourth in the women’s world team chess championship.

iii. China was beaten in the final round by Georgia, who finished the event with an impressive 17 points to clinch the gold medal. Georgia drew just one and won the remaining eight matches in this round-robin contest.

6. Delhi government gives nod to farmer scheme named after Gajender Singh 

i. The Delhi government today gave approval for the setting up of a farmer compensation scheme to be named after Gajender Singh, who allegedly committed suicide during an AAP rally on April 22. 

ii. The government has also decided to give job to a member of Gajendra's family and martyr status for him, as demanded by the farmer's kin. 

iii. The decisions were taken during a Cabinet meeting today, chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. 

iv. Singh, a 41-year-old farmer from Rajasthan, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree during an AAP rally against the land ordinance. 

7. ISRO successfully tests indigenous cryogenic engine with four-tonne capacity

i. An indigenous cryogenic engine, that will help India put satellites of upto four tonnes in geostationary orbit, was tested successfully at ISRO's propulsion complex at Mahendragiri in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu.

ii. The powerful version of the cryogenic engine was successfully ground tested at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC).

iii. The test was conducted for 635 seconds and it was successful, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre sources in Thiruvananthapuram.

iv. India has till now been dependent on foreign launch vehicles to send heavier satellites to the required orbits.

 

 1. भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक कानून में आधिकारिक संशोधनों को मंजूरी 
i)भ्रष्टाचार को गंभीर अपराध की श्रेणी में लाते हुए केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने बुधवार को भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक कानून में आधिकारिक संशोधनों को मंजूरी दी, जिसमें भ्रष्टाचार के लिए सजा की अवधि पांच साल से बढ़ाकर सात साल करने का प्रावधान है।
ii) विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार, पिछले चार वर्ष में भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक कानूनों से जुड़े मामलों के निपटारे में औसतन आठ वर्ष से अधिक समय लगा। दो साल के भीतर मुकदमा खत्म करके इस तरह के मामलों को जल्द निपटाने का प्रस्ताव किया गया है।

iii)इसके अनुसार, किसी सरकारी कर्मचारी द्वारा आधिकारिक कामकाज अथवा दायित्वों के निर्वहन में की गई सिफारिशों अथवा किए गए फैसलों से जुड़े अपराधों की जांच के लिए, जैसा भी अपराध हो उसके अनुरूप लोकपाल अथवा लोकायुक्त से जांच पड़ताल के लिए पूर्व मंजूरी लेना जरूरी होगा।

iv)कैबिनेट की ओर से आज मंजूर किए गए संशोधन भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक (संशोधन) विधेयक 2013 का हिस्सा होंगे, जो राज्य सभा में लंबित है, यह वाणिज्यिक संगठनों को उनसे जुड़े लोगों को सरकारी कर्मचारी को घूस न देने के दिशानिर्देश भी प्रदान करेंगे।

2.अटल शहरी नवीकरण मिशन को मंत्रिमंडल की मंजूरी
i)केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने बुधवार को राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन (राजग) सरकार की प्रमुख 100 स्मार्ट सिटी परियोजना को मंजूरी दे दी। इसके अलावा नए शहरी नवीकरण मिशन को भी हरी झंडी दी गई है।
ii)इन परियोजनाओं पर कुल 1 लाख करोड़ रुपये का खर्च आएगा। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में हुई केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में 100 स्मार्ट शहरों के विकास के लिए 'स्मार्ट सिटीज मिशन' तथा 500 शहरों के लिए शहरी रूपांतरण एवं नवीनीकरण अटल मिशन (अमरूत) को मंजूरी दी गई।
iii) 'अमरूत' एक प्रकार से जवाहर लाल नेहरू राष्ट्रीय शहरी नवीकरण मिशन (जेएलएलयूआरएम) का ही नया अवतार है, जो पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेई के नाम पर है। कैबिनेट ने जेएनएनयूआरएम के तहत आवंटित ऐसी परियोजनाएं जो अभी तक पूरी नहीं हो पाई हैं उनको अमरूत के तहत केंद्रीय सहायता की मंजूरी दी है।
iv)जेएनएनयूआरएम की ऐसी परियोजनाएं जिन्हें 2005 से 2012 के दौरान मंजूरी मिली है और जिनमें 50 प्रतिशत प्रगति हासिल हुई है, साथ ही जिनमें 2012-14 के दौरान केंद्रीय सहायता की 50 फीसदी राशि ली गई है, को मार्च, 2017 तक केंद्र से मदद मिलेगी।

3.न्यूनतम 1,000 रुपये की पेंशन योजना जारी रहेगी
i)सरकार ने कर्मचारी भविष्य निधि संगठन (ईपीएफओ) के तहत पेंशनभोगियों को न्यूनतम 1,000 रुपये मासिक की पेंशन देने की योजना को बुधवार को स्थायी रूप से मंजूर कर दिया। इससे 20 लाख लोगों को फायदा होगा।
ii) यह योजना पिछले माह तक प्रभावी थी। इसे हमेशा के लिए लागू करने का फैसला आज प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में लिया गया।
iii)कर्मचारी भविष्य निधि संगठन ने पहली अप्रैल से इस योजना को निलंबित कर रखा था, क्योंकि उसे इस योजना को 31 मार्च से आगे जारी रखने के विषय में कोई निर्देश नहीं मिला था। यह योजना पिछले साल सितंबर में शुरू की गयी थी और इसमें न्यूनतम पेंशन 1,000 रुपये मासिक सुनिश्चित की गयी थी।

4.डी हरिका और कोनेरू हंपी ने  महिला विश्व टीम शतरंज चैंपियनशिप में जीते पदक 
i)डी हरिका और कोनेरू हंपी ने शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए महिला विश्व टीम शतरंज चैंपियनशिप में व्यक्तिगत वर्ग में क्रमश: रजत और कांस्य पदक जीते.
लेकिन भारतीय टीम को चौथे स्थान से संतोष करना पड़ा.
ii)भारतीय टीम ने टूर्नामेंट में वाइल्ड कार्ड के जरिये प्रवेश किया था और इसलिए चौथे स्थान पर रहना अच्छा प्रदर्शन माना जाएगा लेकिन यदि टीम थोड़े बेहतर प्रयास करती तो वह पदक जीत सकती थी क्योंकि कांस्य पदक हासिल करने वाले चीन से उसका केवल एक अंक कम रहा.
iii)चीन को आखिरी दौर में जार्जिया ने हराया जिसने 17 अंक के साथ स्वर्ण पदक जीता. जार्जिया ने इस राउंड रोबिन मुकाबले में केवल एक मुकाबला ड्रा किया जबकि बाकी में जीत दर्ज की. रूस ने अंतिम दौर में अमेरिका को हराया और रजत पदक हासिल किया. उसके कुल 15 अंक रहे.

5.दिल्ली सरकार ने किसान मुआवजा योजना  को मंजूरी  दी
i)दिल्ली सरकार ने मंगलवार को किसान मुआवजा योजना शुरू करने को मंजूरी दे दी. इस योजना का नाम गजेंद्र सिंह के नाम पर रखा जाएगा जिसने 22 अप्रैल को आप की रैली में कथित तौर पर खुदकुशी कर ली थी.
ii)सरकार ने सिंह के परिवार के एक सदस्यों को नौकरी देने और उसे शहीद का दर्जा देने का भी फैसला किया है. किसान के परिजनों ने ये मांगें की थीं.

iii)अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, बारिश से प्रभावित किसानों को सरकार अगले हफ्ते से मुआवजा देना शुरू करेगी.
iv)बुधवार को आयोजित आप की रैली में गजेंद्र ने नाटकीय ढंग से एक पेड़ से फंदा लगा लिया था. उनके इस कदम से देशभर में आक्रोश भड़क उठा था. आप की रैली केंद्र सरकार के भूमि अधिग्रहण अध्यादेश के खिलाफ आयोजित की गई थी|

6.चीनी पर आयात शुल्क बढ़ाकर 40 प्रतिशत करने को मंजूरी
i) सरकार ने बुधवार को चीनी पर आयात शुल्क मौजूदा 25 प्रतिशत से बढ़ाकर 40 प्रतिशत करने और एथनॉल पर उत्पाद शुल्क समाप्त करने का फैसला किया जिससे  मिलों पर किसानों के बढ़ते बकाए को निपटाने में मदद मिल सके।
ii)मंत्रिमंडल की आर्थिक मामलों की समिति (सीसीईए) की हुई बैठक में यह निर्णय लिए गए।
iii)इससे अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजार में चीनी के दाम और नीचे गिरने की स्थिति में आयात से बचा जा सकेगा।' सरकार ने इसके साथ ही 'मिलावट के लिए आपूर्ति किए जाने वाले एथनॉल पर उत्पाद शुल्क को भी हटाने का फैसला किया हैै।'
iv)वर्तमान में इस पर 12.36 प्रतिशत की दर से उत्पाद शुल्क लगाया जाता है। विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है, 'अगले चीनी सत्र में मिलावट के लिए भेजे जाने वाले मोलासिस से निकलने वाले एथनॉल को उत्पाद शुल्क से छूट होगी। इस पर मिलने वाला मूल्य लाभ चीनी मिलों, डिस्टलरीज को दिया जाएगा।'

7.स्वदेशी क्रायोजेनिक इंजन का सफल परीक्षण
i) तमिलनाडू जिले के महेन्द्रगिरि में इसरो के संचालन परिसर में एक स्वदेशी क्रायोजेनिक इंजन का सफल परीक्षण किया गया। यह इंजन भारत की चार टन तक के वजन वाले उपग्रहों को भूस्थतिक कक्षा में पहुंचाने में मदद करेगा।
ii)तिरूवनंतपुरम स्थित विक्रम साराभाई अंतरिक्ष केंद्र में मौजूद सूत्रों ने बताया कि परीक्षण 635 सेकेंड के लिए किया गया और यह सफल रहा।
iii)इसके अध्यक्ष ए एस किरनकुमार आज सुबह महेंद्रगिरि आए और परीक्षण शाम साढ़े चार बजे शुरू हुआ। निदेशक डी कार्तिकेसन के नेतृत्व वाली एक टीम की अध्यक्षता में यह परीक्षण हुआ।
iv)सफल परीक्षण अगली पीढ़ी के जीएसएलवी एमके 3 प्रक्षेपण यान को विकसित करने के लिए एक मील का पत्थर है।

1. Togo's President Faure Gnassingbe has won a third term with 58.75% of the vote in polls. According to the electoral commission's information his main rival Jean-Pierre Fabre got a total of 34.95% votes.

चुनावों में टोगो के राष्ट्रपति फाउरे नासिंगबे 58.75 प्रतिशत वोटों के साथ तीसरी बार राष्ट्रपति चुने गए हैं। निर्वाचन आयोग से मिली जानकारी के अनुसार, उनके प्रमुख प्रतिद्वंद्वी ज्यां-पियरे फाबरे को कुल 34.95 प्रतिशत वोट मिले हैं। 

2. Railway Sports Promotion Board has won the 5th Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship 2015. In the final match, they defeated Uttar Pradesh Hockey by 5-3 goals which was played at Pune. 

रेलवे खेल संवर्धन बोर्ड ने 5वीं सीनियर पुरुष राष्ट्रीय हॉकी चैम्पियनशिप 2015 जीती। पुणे में खेले गये फाइनल मैच में रेलवे ने 5-3 गोल से उत्तर प्रदेश हॉकी को हरा दिया। 

3. Projecting a growth rate of 7.5 percent for 2015-16, the World Bank expressed the faith on increase in economic activities and stability in India. World Bank said in its India Development Update Report that GDP growth (at market prices) is expected to accelerate to 7.5 percent in 2015-16 reaching 8 percent in 2017-18.

विश्व बैंक ने चालू वित्त वर्ष में भारत के जीडीपी में 7.5 फीसदी की बढ़ोतरी का अनुमान व्यक्त किया है। विश्व बैंक ने भारत में आर्थिक गतिविधियों में तेजी और स्थायित्व में बढ़ोतरी पर भरोसा व्यक्त किया है। विश्व बैंक ने इंडिया डेवलपमेंट अपडेट रिपोर्ट में कहा कि 2015-16 में भारत की आर्थिक वृद्धि 7.5 फीसदी, 2016-17 में 7.9 फीसदी और 2017-18 में 8 फीसदी रहने का अनुमान है। 

4. The US State Department has approved the sale of USD 96 million worth of follow-on support for C-130J Super Hercules aircraft to India to enable the Indian Air Force to remain mission-ready for disaster relief and international humanitarian assistance needs like in quake-hit neighbouring Nepal. According to the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) the sale of additional equipment and support will enable the Indian Air Force to sustain a higher mission-ready status for its C-130J fleet.

अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्रालय ने भारत को सी-130जे सुपर हरक्युलिस सैन्य विमान के लिए 9.6 करोड़ डॉलर के उपकरणों की बिक्री को मंजूरी दे दी। इससे भारतीय वायु सेना को आपदा राहत कार्यो तथा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मदद के लिए बेहतर तरीके से तैयार होने में मदद मिलेगी। अमेरिकी रक्षा सुरक्षा समन्वय एजेंसी (डीएससीए) के अनुसार अतिरिक्त उपकरणों की इस संभावित बिक्री से भारतीय वायु सेना की सी-130जे विमानों के जत्थे को अपने अभियानों के लिए बेहतर तरीके से तैयार रहने में मदद मिलेगी।

5. Kalki Koechlin-starrer disability drama 'Margarita With A Straw' has bagged the best feature film honour at the recently concluded Washington DC International Film festival. Kalki, 31, has played a cerebral palsy patient in the Sonali Bose-directed film.

कल्कि कोचलिन अभिनीत फिल्म ‘मार्गरिटा विद अ स्ट्रा’ को हाल ही में संपन्न हुए वाशिंगटन, डीसी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म समारोह में सवश्रेष्ठ फीचर फिल्म का सम्मान प्राप्त हुआ है। सोनाली बोस द्वारा निर्देशित इस फिल्म में सेरेब्रल पाल्सी (प्रमस्तिष्क पक्षाघात) से पीड़ित रोगी की भूमिका 31 वर्षीय कल्कि ने निभाई है।

6. China won the World Men's Team Chess Championship held in Armenia, after beating India 3-1 in the last round. It is for the first time that any Asian Team has won this Championship.

चीन ने अर्मेनिया में आयोजित विश्व पुरूष टीम शतरंज चैंपियनशिप के अंतिम दौर में भारतीय टीम को 3-1 से हराकर पहली बार खिताब जीता। यह पहली बार है कि किसी एशियाई टीम ने यह चैंपियनशिप हासिल की।

7. Georgia’s female chess team became world champions after winning the final game in the World Women's Team Chess Championship against home team China. The Chinese were beaten 2.5 to 1.5, which ensured that Georgia were world champions for the first ever time in their history. Georgia scored 17 points in the competition. D. Harika and Koneru Humpy came up with fine individual performances to win silver and a bronze, respectively, even as the Indian eves finished fourth in the women’s world team chess championship.

जॉर्जिया की महिला शतरंज टीम ने विश्व महिला टीम शतरंज चैंपियनशिप में चीन को आखिरी दौर में हराकर 17 अंकों के साथ स्वर्ण पदक जीता। चीन 2.5 से 1.5 पर हारा जिससे यह सुनिश्चित हो गया कि जॉर्जिया उसके इतिहास में पहली बार विश्व चैंपियन बन गया है। डी. हरिका और कोनेरु हंपी ने शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए महिला विश्व टीम शतरंज चैंपियनशिप में व्यक्तिगत वर्ग में क्रमश: रजत और कांस्य पदक जीते लेकिन भारतीय टीम को चौथे स्थान से संतोष करना पड़ा।

8. India Ratings, a Fitch group company, projected the country’s economic growth at 7.7 per cent this financial year. In the previous year it was 7.4%. According to India Ratings, while the growth would be boosted by higher domestic consumption, demand abroad will remain lacklustre. 

फिच ग्रुप की एक कंपनी, इंडिया रेटिंग्स का मानना है कि निजी उपयोग मांग में ओर बढ़ोतरी होने से चालू वित्त वर्ष के दौरान भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था 7.7 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि दर हासिल कर सकती है। पिछले वित्त वर्ष में यह 7.4 प्रतिशत रही थी। 

9. Saudi Arab King Salman bin Abdulaziz has relieved his younger half-brother Muqrin bin Abdulaziz of his duties as crown prince and appointed his nephew, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, as the new heir apparent.

सऊदी अरब के शाह सलमान बिन अब्दुल अजीज ने अपने छोटे सौतेले भाई मोकरेन बिन अब्दुल अजीज को उनके पद से बर्खास्त कर दिया और उनकी जगह अपने भतीजे मोहम्मद बिन नायेफ को युवराज नियुक्त किया है।

तिरूनेलवेली जिले के महेन्द्रगिरि में इसरो के संचालन परिसर में एक स्वदेशी क्रायोजेनिक इंजन का सफल परीक्षण किया गया। यह इंजन भारत की चार टन तक के वजन वाले उपग्रहों को भूस्थतिक कक्षा में पहुंचाने में मदद करेगा। क्रायोजेनिक इंजन के शक्तिशाली प्रारूप का तरल प्रणोदन प्रणाली केंद्र में सफल जमीनी परीक्षण किया गया। परीक्षण 635 सेकेंड के लिए किया गया और यह सफल रहा।
